Bodyguard of Lies

Solid episode with a couple of really awesome things happening. I enjoyed it a lot.

• ♥ Clarke/Lexa ♥ Their scenes were the highlight of the episode. I love so much how their relationship has progressed. Everything about them this episode was perfect. Also I just love the way that Lexa looks at Clarke.

+ The kiss!! I loved it. I knew it was coming but it was even better than I expected. I really loved Clarke kissing Lexa back and being just as into it as Lexa. It was a good kiss. I loved how long it was. I even love the reason for why Clarke backed off - "I'm sorry. I'm not ready to be with anyone. Not yet." Perfect. Of course she wouldn't be ready yet! She killed Finn, what, a week or two ago? But I loved her "not yet" which felt really pointed, like an acknowledgement that 'yeah, she's into Lexa too, there's something there and in the future she might just be interested in pursuing it'. Hope.

+ I loved Lexa's bravery in finally opening up and confessing her feelings for Clarke, first obliquely with words and then with the kiss. I loved her deciding that she deserved better than just surviving, deciding that she could allow herself some emotion again, and taking a chance. For Lexa that was braver than any battle.

+ Clarke backing Lexa into the table was pretty hot. That thump when Lexa hit the table... mmm. Also I love the combination of Clarke physically forcing Lexa back while verbally she's laying bare the lie of Lexa's 'no feelings' policy.

+ "You were born for this Clarke. Same as me." I love how much Lexa considers Clarke her equal, how much she respects her. Considering the Grounder's belief in reincarnation she possibly means this literally.

+ "I have (changed). I can't do this anymore." So this is Clarke rejecting Lexa's pragmatic/ruthless/no-feelings mode of leadership, yes? I mean Clarke's pretty damn ruthless anyway and has been from the beginning she's just done it with a lot of feelings. So back to ruthless + feelings for her? I hope so because that's her best look.

+ We're not going to get it on the show so I really want that AU fic with Clexa winning the battle, the Arker's folding into Grounder society, Clexa getting together and ruling their people jointly as a badass power couple.

"I couldn't have kept us alive all this time without him. We need him." I love this little moment of Clarke/Bellamy love. She says 'we', and they do need him, but as the first sentence alludes to she also very much means 'I'. Bellamy has been her co-leader, her main support, from the beginning, even when they were actively antagonistic with each other. She needs his help and support. I love her worry for him and her not denying to Lexa that she worries about Bellamy the most. I also loved Lexa's clear jealousy during this scene. It really makes me want a Lexa/Clarke/Bellamy scene.

• Bellamy being badass! I loved him figuring out that the panel was lying. Him shooting with two guns while in the vent was pretty cool. I loved him setting the torch on the oxygen tank before the soldiers broke in and thus saving the day. That was a great reveal.

• Octavia was awesome in her confrontation with Clarke. I loved that she figured out the truth, I liked that she didn't just accuss Clarke but asked for the truth, I liked her contained anger, her insistence that there was another way, that she refused to let Clarke explain it away with protecting Bellamy and that even in her anger and disgust she understood that she had to keep the truth.

• I loved Clarke saving Octavia's life. I loved her fury. I really loved how she did it - silently and without Octavia even realising she was in danger. I kind of love that Octavia won't ever know that Clarke saved her life (probably).

"They didn't do anything. The enemy did. Lexa's a great Commander because she's ruthless. That's why we'll win this battle. /That's wrong./ That's war." Indra knew that they knew about the missile! YES! I love this so much. I love her pragmatism here. I honestly wasn't sure which way she would swing [supporting Lexa's choice because pragmatism vs feeling betrayed because sacrificing her people] but could buy either one. I'm glad the show went this route.

• We're seeing Indra/Octavia playing out a parallel path to Lexa/Clarke's relationship and I never actually realised that before. Lexa mentoring Clarke in how to be a leader to Indra mentoring Octavia into being a Grounder warrior. I love that. Clarke firmly rejects Lexa's pragmatic/ruthless approach this episode (...maybe, kind of) and teaches Lexa about feelings but that has left me wondering about how Octavia's own journey is going to conclude. How is their push/pull of conflicting viewpoints going to resolve itself?

• I just have to make a point about how much I love Indra as Octavia's mentor. *please don't kill her, please don't kill her*

• I'm a little surprised that there was no mention of Clarke saving Lincoln in the last episode. You'd think that would at least get a thank you from Octavia.

• I loved Lexa's guard anticipating what Lexa would want to do re: killing Octavia. He sent Octavia to an outermost guard post before Lexa said anything. Lexa didn't even say anything. He seems to be a worthy successor to Gustus. Huh, I wonder if he was Gustus's Second?

"Tell me, what level of crazy is too much for you? I'm just curious." - Murphy. Hee. And yet he's the just as crazy person who has been following in Jaha's footsteps [literally] this whole journey. It seems weird to balk at following now when they finally have proof of something important/impressive awaiting them [working drone]. That said I'm pretty much there with Murphy. I spent most of this storyline rolling my eyes at Jaha.

• I liked Raven/Wick. Their back-and-forth competitiveness is fun to watch. I really liked how Wick diffused Raven's brace awkwardness when they started making out. I loved him telling Raven that he won't play games so she needed to figure out what she wanted. The forthrightness and honest is refreshing.

• I love that Wick's reasons not to blow the tank were all impersonal [they'll fix it, they'll pull out a new weapon] and Raven's was personal [it'll melt his face] and about protecting Bellamy. Nice subtle encapsulation of their relationships with him.
