iariaThis series managed to get completely nonsensical and irritating in it's final episodes. There were enjoyable moments and I actually loved the final twenty minutes or so of the finale but overall this is a series I'm glad to be finished.
First, those finale twenty (or so) minutes of Episode 16 were awesome. I loved them. They were fun, amusing and all around enjoyable. Much like the series was in the beginning. I found myself wishing so much that the latter half of the series had been about Jung In and Moo Kyul as roommates. Their Odd Couple antics were hilarious. Bitching about the other's habits, bickering and just generally bugging each other. Becoming friends. Those scenes of Jung In, Moo Kyul and Mae Ri were hilarious and adorable! The OT3 was back in full force and I wanted more of it. If we'd gotten that I would have been sad to see the series end. I'm glad that the series ended on a high note but it irritates me when I think about what could have been. I'm a little bitter about that. Oh, such wasted potential.
Episode 16
Things I loved:
- I am so happy that Mae Ri and Jung In remained close after the divorce and that they continued to be friends. I also like that Jung In and Moo Kyul ended well on their way to a friendship themselves.
- Jung In deciding to move in with Moo Kyul made me LOL so much and Moo Kyul's 'whatever' reaction to him just showing up was great. I loved that Jung In was going to share the bed with Moo Kyul (if with a curtain between them) until Moo Kyul put a stop to it.
- Jung In’s smile when Moo Kyul fell asleep on his shoulder was amusing. But seriously – what was he thinking when he was smiling like that?
- The dinner scene with the three of them had me in tears I laughed so much. I repeat myself but THIS! This is exactly what I wanted! It was funny and the characters were adorable and I loved the interactions between the three of them. ♥ Why couldn't we have had a whole series of the three of them like this?
- I liked that everyone (well the main people) got a happy ending. Mae Ri go to go back to school, was working as a screenwriter like she dreamed and was with Moo Kyul angst free. Moo Kyul became a successful and famous singer, got Mae Ri and family. Jung In got free of his father, a successful business and friendship if not love. Even Seo Jun ended happy - a successful actress, surrounded by friends (and no longer lonely) and finally free of the bitterness and angsty baggage left over from her break-up with Moo Kyul. All of that made me really happy.
- Everyone throwing them a Happy Divorce party was lovely.
- The final scenes of Mae Ri and Moo Kyul were really adorable. I'd fallen out of love with them but it reminded me why I’d fallen for them in the first place.
- During the scene where Mae Ri complained about the heater I was sure that Moo Kyul was going to say it had to be so high because Jung In was a wuss about the cold and then the camera would roll over to show Jung In elsewhere in the apartment. I like the idea that Jung In ends the series still living with Moo Kyul.
Things I didn't:
- I was expecting there to be something more to Jung Suk's preoccupation with Mae Ri and his obsession with Jung In marrying her than just him being in love with her doppelganger mother.
- The fake wedding hit my embarrassment squick. I understand why they did it that way because they certainly weren't getting through to their fathers otherwise (not even when they right out said they weren't going to get married.) But a part of me was still thinking that there had to be a better way.
- Mae Ri being all sad face and glum during the lead up to the wedding and during the wedding itself makes no sense considering the fact that she wasn't actually getting married.
- Of course Jung Suk would throw Jung In out and disinherit him. Because he is the worst father ever. Good riddance. Jung In is better off without him.
- I was disappointed that Manager Bang and her scheming and anger ended up being completely immaterial. I thought for sure she cause some sort of trouble for everyone but - nothing.
