iariaI re-watched Contingency and Bad Blood, still loved them, but it also confirmed just how much the 'Carter saved John' retcon really was a retcon and now it's annoying me even more.

Great episode.
• I loved this look into the past and Finch's first attempts at saving people by use of the Numbers. It worked so well with what we already knew. More than any other episode this one showed Finch's dedication towards making up for his past mistakes and his determination to help people. He's hurt and still struggling and he's so alone and yet he doesn't stop fighting. Even after Dillinger and his betrayal Finch kept going with his mission. I also love that even after being betrayed Finch tried to save Dillanger. So many times this episode I wanted someone to give him a hug. I really love him.
• I loved how connected everything was shown to be. Finch and Reese's paths crossed twice before Finch recruited Reese. That even way back in the beginning Shaw was a part of things. That Control and Greer have had their hands in everything, pushing events along, as they both struggled to gain control of the Machine. Everything tied into a neat little bow.
• I loved Finch's expression when Reese didn't kill Daniel. Reese needed Finch but Finch needed him too. I loved that Reese let Daniel live and helped him to escape.
• "They don't have the Finchinator on their side working his hacker mojo." - Dillinger. Hee.
• The laptop situation has me a little confused. So Finch didn't end up selling it to the Chinese after all, okay. But as I remember it the laptop was part of Finch's plan to free the Machine (... right? It's the virus?) so how does that work? But then I realised that it still works - Finch was doing something to the pieces of code Daniel Casey stole, the vurus I'm guessing, and his plan was to sell it anyway so Dillanger's betrayal didn't necessarily change Finch's plans too much. That however still doesn't explain how they got his name. How the hell did Finch's real name get connected with it at all? That never made sense (Finch wouldn't use his real name) and it doesn't make sense now.
