Castle and Doctor Who Thoughts

iariaCastle 8x01/8x02 'XY' – I enjoyed them. I’m not entirely sold on the end. I didn’t love Beckett going off on her own instead of her and Castle working as a team and I didn’t completely buy her making that choice. Still I did like Rita and if they’re going to be working together that could be fun. I’m also glad that Bracken is dead and that this new mystery isn’t about him again. I’m curious how they’re going to tie Beckett’s storyline in with the main Castle/cast storylines. I loved Alexis joining Castle’s PI business. The show hasn’t seemed to know what to do with her for a long time and this is perfect. It gives her something interesting to do during her screen time, adds a new dimension to her relationship with her dad, and makes her relevant to on-going plots. Plus I just really enjoyed her this episode and I loved her being so competent at it. It makes sense to me that she would. I also really liked Hayley and loved her mentoring Alexis. I hope she returns at some point. Maybe Castle can expand his business at the end of the season and Hayley can join on and partner with Alexis. I liked Vikram and his interactions with Beckett. Liked Castle saving the day with the gun trick and Vikram's awed "You're so cool."
Doctor Who 9x02 ‘The Witch’s Familiar’
It was okay.
• Once again Missy was the best. She was fun, though a couple times she was a bit much (specifically during the scene where she poked holes in the Dalek), and I really enjoyed her interactions with both Clara and the Doctor. She was very much in the Doctor’s usual position here – the Companion, being forced to work against the odds to rescue someone/get out of their terrible situation – but with her own Master twist to how things played out. I wonder if this is foreshadowing the Master’s storyline this season?
I loved how the episode starting - with Missy having tied Clara up and hung her upside down in order to tell her a story (while sharpening a stick). It amused me. I was also amused by Missy casually pushing Clara down the hole (lol), her “wheee” when the Dalek blew up and the scene where she puts Clara in the Dalek.
• I loved the scene after the Doctor stole Davros’s chair. It was fun and he got a bunch of great lines. ”Admit it you’ve all had this exact nightmare.” lol.
• "Oooh, I know that face." - Missy. Yeah, she would considering she's probably seen it every time the Doctor has been just about to defeat one of her schemes. I love how amused she was by him defeating Davros. Also she still had the broach he gave her, aww.
• I loved Missy taking the opportunity to try and get the Doctor to kill Clara because of course she wouldn't be able to help herself. That's what the Master does. She probably can't help herself.
• I thought the Doctor took far too long figuring out that Clara was the Dalek. I mean it's not even the first time she's been in one!
