Hottie Of the Week: Usagi and Mamoru who both looked great this episode. Princess Serenity, despite my hair issues, is gorgeous. Mamoru looks really fabulous being all torn about Usagi and upset about the situation.
Best Shibby Moment: I really liked his exchange with Moon at the very beginning – his reaching out to her when she tries to leave, calling her real name, the way he can’t help but say ‘I also’ but then remembers and walks away.
Funniest Moment: Motoki’s face when he turned around and saw that Hina was standing there and just overheard everything he’d said. Hee.
Cutest Moment: Motoki in his giant, green, spandex, turtle outfit. Oh, Motoki, silly guy.
Saddest Moment: The look on Usagi’s face when Mamoru abruptly changed from walking towards her to running over to Hina.
WTF of the Week: As always it’s just so hard to pick one thing! I’m going with Mamoru jumping in front of Kunzite’s descending blade instead of using his cane to block it as he has every other time before now. Even Venus used her chain instead of her body. It’s just ridiculous. Like TPTB realized they needed to get him injured somehow saving Moon and didn’t even bother to try and make it realistic. I am so annoyed, which in turn affects the scene, which annoys me more because I’ve always really loved this scene. Runner up: Venus, Mars and Jupiter being so distracted by Jadeite and the youma that they couldn’t interfere in the Kunzite/Moon fight and then so easily being taken out of the fight. The inconsistency with regards to the senshi’s abilities and power annoys. This includes the fact that neither Venus nor Jupiter nor Mars use their powers before being frozen even though Mars using her fire to try at stop the youma before being frozen shows that they could. Why the hell didn’t Mars use her fire to free their feet of ice? These things drive me crazy.
Coolest Moment: The reveal that Usagi/Moon was the princess. Especially the scene where the other senshi kneel in front of her.
Best Senshi Moment: I loved what we got of Dark Mercury. I love how she will not answer to Kunzite, I love her actually turning her sword on him when he got in her way, and her unwillingness to take orders. At the beginning Kunzite tells Jadeite – “What can I do? She’s a capricious person. She comes when she wants.” – Awesome! Seriously I love Dark Mercury. She’s one change to previous canon that I’m behind a hundred percent.
Best Senshi Interaction: We had like no senshi interactions in this episode. That’s just weird and wrong! I really loved Mars’s “Venus. I knew it, you’re...” while looking at Venus. I love that she figured out the truth. I wish they’d have held off on the Princess reveal for at least one more episode so that we could have seen how Rei reacted to and around Usagi after knowing that she was the princess but before Usagi knew it herself. That would have been really interesting. Would she have told Makoto?
+ At this point I really should be used to it but the senshi continuing to wait to transform until they’re face to face with the bad guy, instead of changing beforehand especially when they know that they’re going to be fighting, continues to drive me crazy. Why? Why would they do that? I hate it so much. But no wonder they have absolutely no problem calling each other by their real names when transformed because they clearly don’t care if anyone knows who they really are.
+ So we finally meet/see Princess Serenity and she does indeed have odango-less black hair. And even though I knew it was coming the first time I watched, the second time I dislike it just as much. At least that original rage reaction is muted this time. I’m just really not happy about it. It makes absolutely no sense. And if they were going to keep the black hair they could have at least kept the odango style.
+ Mamoru’s going away party was a bit weird – held at the Crown, Motoki dressed as turtle, Hina the only person there – were they going to be any other guests at it? Or was it less a party and more of a get together for a couple people?
+ It would have been nice if Serenity’s dress looked more like the one in the manga and anime. I preferred that dress.
