Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Act 27 Review
Oct. 24th, 2009 09:03 pm‘Luna Becomes a Sailor Senshi’
Hottie Of the Week: Ami, who evil continues to really agree with. I’ll be sad to see her dark outfit go because she does look great in it.
Funniest Moment: Luna smacking Kunzite in the head with a fan. Hahaha. *wipes tears* Kunzite’s expression was hilarious. The whole Kunzite/Sailor Luna fight was funny. I loved her blowing a kiss at him.
Cutest Moment: Luna’s transformation sequence was cute and funny and somewhat confusing. The best part was the double Luna tale wiggle.
Saddest Moment: Dark Mercury slowly losing her smile as she stares at Moon’s ‘body’, kneeling beside her slowly (after a bunch of memories) and then that very hesitant “Usagi-chan?” which really got to me. Then her honest grief as she threw away her sword and pulled Moon into her arms and screamed in grief.
WTF of the Week: Sailor Luna being so young is definitely one of those overarching WTFs. For just this episode there were two things. 1) Having heard the entire conversation between Usagi and Dark Mercury why did Luna allow Usagi to face her alone? Why didn’t she call Makoto and Rei after Usagi left and tell them what she heard? 2) Then there is what happened to Moon at the end which I just don’t understand. I mean clearly Dark Mercury’s slash broke Moon’s moon wand and cut into Moon’s tiara enough that it fell off and broke in half and it knocked Moon out – and yet there is no obvious injury. I can’t see how Moon could get her tiara cut in half by the sword and knocked out by it and yet sustain no head injury.
Coolest Moment: Ami beating her inner darkness after apparently killing Moon (or at least hurting her a lot). Dark Mercury just got another wave of dark energy, enough that it cut right through the Silver Crystal and yet when she saw Moon laying there it wasn’t enough to keep hold of her. In the end the Senshi are completely devoted to Usagi, their princess. And I love how that shone through. A senshi’s love for Usagi will always shine through!
Best Senshi Moment: So as not to pick the above I’m going with Moon’s fight with Dark Mercury. I was really impressed with how she held her own.
Best Senshi Interaction: Makoto/Rei’s agreement that they need ‘to protect Usagi no matter what’.
+ From the first time I learnt about Sailor Luna to the first time I watched her to now I continue to be puzzled about the, in show, reason for her to be a child. I know in a production sense they wanted a younger character to appeal to younger audiences and felt it wasn’t the right time to bring in Chibi-Usa. But in show Luna is supposedly a little older than the senshi. Not to mention that we have seen her human form and it is not a child. It just does not make sense.
