Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Act 13 Review
Oct. 16th, 2009 08:34 pmThe Last of the Shitennou, Kunzite, Appears
Hottie Of the Week: Mamoru – who was looking really hot this episode.
Best Shibby Moment: Wow, there are actually so many to chose! I loved the bike ride and him taking her to the beach to collect shells.
Funniest Moment: Hmm, probably Makoto losing her temper while talking to Usagi causing her to pull to hard on her rope and causing a series of events that end with the room trashed and Ami and Makoto on the floor.
Cutest Moment: … I suppose, Mamoru following Usagi as she shopped for things to help Shin.
Saddest Moment: Does the fact that we didn’t get more Shin (and thus him interacting with Usagi and Mamoru) count?
WTF of the Week: … I guess the fact that Luna just randomly happened to be in the exact place as where the girl was when she turned into a youma? Or perhaps the fact that none of the other senshi showed up for the battle at the end – where were they? Really there wasn’t anything huge this episode that made me go WTF, all these are just kind of average. Or, wait – how did Mamoru know Usagi had arrived at Shin’s house? Was he running away? It seems a bit unlikely that he saw her.
Coolest Moment: Kunzite showing up at the end. Yay!
Best Senshi Moment: Usagi. Two moments really – I loved her being competent (and caring) with the youma and defeating it herself and I loved her attempt to help Shin by bringing the things he likes to him to try and help him remember which was just a really sweet thing to do. They made a kind of big deal of Usagi not being able to buy him a painting or a book but honestly she’s going through all this effort for a guy she just met so I don’t think that’s a big deal.
Best Senshi Interaction: Usagi’s phone call to Rei and the subsequent destruction was cute and amusing. I liked the short scene after the episode where the four girls wish the audience a happy new year while dressed in some really beautiful kimono’s (in of course their colours).
+ I continue to like the idea that the Shitennou were reincarnated just like Mamoru and the Senshi, which I mentioned in my other review, but what I’m finding very interesting is that Shin, and presumably the other Shitennou, are more like Mamoru then the Senshi. The senshi got entire lives from beginning to now but neither Mamoru nor Shin remember the past. Why is that?
+ I found myself having ideas while watching like: wouldn’t it be cool to have an AU where Usagi and Mamoru ran into Shin before Beryl decided to awaken Kunzite and they bonded? Or where the senshi woke before the Shitennou? Or where they knew each other before awakening? How about an AU where Usagi does go into Shin’s house and fights against Beryl and ends up either preventing Kunzite’s return or even better where she wipes all the dark energy from Kunzite and then we get a story about Kunzite hating Mamou/Endymion and trying to save the other Shitennou and he and Usagi could become closer. It’d be interesting.
