Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Act 15 Review

Best Shibby Moment: There was a lot of Mamoru in this episode and a lot of wonderful Mamoru at that and I can’t just pick one! If I had to I would chose – Mamoru’s expression when he looked at a smiling Usagi after their daring rescue of Minako’s jewels where it was completely obvious just how much he cares about her now. Someone has got it bad. I love it. I also loved Mamoru’s obvious jealousy at the beginning over the perceived Motoki/Usagi relationship which made me aww and his looks at Usagi as she held onto him as they drove away. This episode just had so much about Mamoru’s feelings for Usagi.
Funniest Moment: Definitely Usagi unthinkingly bursting out with “(I’ll) transform into Sailor Moon…” and her and Mamoru’s reactions. Heeee. I mean it made her look like an idiot but it was completely hilarious so I’m feeling forgiving about it. Even watching it this second time it’s still hilarious. Mamoru’s wide-eyed expression and then them awkwardly looking away before physically moving and facing away from each other. The subsequent “Ah… bird.”/”Ah… grass.” ‘exchange’ was just the cherry on top of a very funny scene.
Cutest Moment: Naru tricking Usagi. Naru’s smile when she revealed her surprise and her handing Usagi all those post-it’s full of information on Mamoru was adorable.
Saddest Moment: Ami’s reaction to being snubbed by Naru, which Usagi completely missed. I really felt for her.
WTF of the Week: Despite how hilarious it was Usagi basically blurting out that she was Sailor Moon was definitely a head/desk moment if there was ever one. I don’t even know what to do with it. Was it because she just feels that comfortable with Mamoru that it slipped out? And then to add to making her look like an idiot this episode she ends up tripping over her own feet while running from the thieves. Oy. She made up for it in her fight with the youma but then at the end they had her putting her handkerchief around Mamoru’s cut over his jacket. *headdesk* Oy.
Coolest Moment: Moon’s fight with the youma (same as best senshi). I just thought it was an excellent fight. The youma itself was really cool and interesting looking, even beautiful. I loved that it had a sword and seemed fairly competent for a youma. I loved it hitting Moon’s tiara back at her and I loved Moon saving herself with her moon wand.
Best Senshi Moment: Moon’s fight with the youma. She did so many idiotic things this episode but in her battle with the youma she was competent and pretty awesome I think it’s my favourite fight thus far. There was just a lot to like about it. Even with the shock of having her tiara hit back at her Moon still managed to dodge it. Then when we get one of the usual scenes of Moon being menaced by the youma and... she saves herself. I was expecting Tuxedo Kamen to show up or one of the other senshi but no, she used her moon wand to block the youma’s sword, threw her off, kicked her away and then Moon Twilight’d her ass into dust.
Best Senshi Interaction: Another episode where we don’t get a ton of senshi interaction. My favourite was probably the first scene with the three of them at the karaoke – Makoto and Rei already there, Ami arriving and then the exchange between them. I love the idea of them always hanging out at the karaoke headquarters now. But I also liked the Ami/Rei bits we got with Rei seeing how upset Ami is but not pushing.
Makoto: (smiling) We were just wondering if everyone would be coming here.
Ami: Ah, it’s become a habit I guess
Makoto: Me too, I can’t help it. It’s like home.
+ I loved Mamoru telling Usagi to “come on” at the end and the two of them driving off on his motorcycle. What really stuck out to me though was that he had two helmets. Not that long ago he took her on his bike for the first time and he only had a single blue helmet. Now suddenly he has a black and a white helmet – why did he get that second helmet, hmm?
+ I wasn’t very pleased that during Usagui’s recitation of what happened at the end of the last episode she stated that Ami saved her with a little help from Tuxedo Kamen... and said nothing about Makoto and Rei. And they were sitting right there!
+ So how do you even respond to something like Usagi’s little outburst? I guess they apparently decided to agree that it never happened? Or did Usagi come up with some thin explanation, like ‘I was just fooling around/playing’?
+ I find it interesting that neither Minako nor Artemis recognised Mamoru.
