Hottie Of the Week: … Usagi. She looks beautiful when she’s happy.
Funniest Moment: Rei hiding in the corner by the couch in the Crown room after her rather disastrous attempt to work the karaoke machine.
Cutest Moment: Minako having to turn away to hide her smile when Rei’s accosted by the nurse and kids about her ‘concert’. I like seeing a more playful Minako.
WTF of the Week: Tie: 1) Moon and Venus’s feet being stuck in the glue meaning that they couldn’t use any of their powers… seriously? That’s beyond stupid. Especially in light of how we see Mars immediately use her ability without doing the full movement which is actually something we already knew. Yet another example of TPTB making a senshi look dumb so they can be rescued. It never stops annoying me. Also Usagi waiting to change, knowing there was a youma, until she was face to face with it is another thing that will never stop being annoying. 2) Makoto disappearing yet again. She didn’t make even one appearance this episode. Why the heck wouldn’t Rei have called Makoto for help too? I mean Makoto likes karaoke too. Plus Rei and Makoto had that bonding episode where Makoto learnt about Rei’s father and rescued Rei from their usual monthly lunch. She should have been there. At the least I want an explanation for her absence.
Coolest Moment: Mars versus Nephrite and her powered up version of ‘youma taisan’ which was awesome. It was fabulous to watch, very impressive. I loved the heat shimmer in the air afterwards. The whole fire special effect was excellent. Runner Up: Venus and Moon fighting a youma together for the first time.
Best Senshi Moment: Rei singing for the kids which was a nice call back to the anime. I thought she had a beautiful voice. And I loved her facing up to her fear and just doing wonderfully. I couldn’t have done it.
Best Senshi Interaction: Usagi/Rei – I loved Rei calling Usagi for help preparing and Usagi’s happiness over it. The final scene between them with Rei refusing to sing again and Usagi pouting was adorable. But my favourite was the scene just before Rei went to sing with Usagi encouraging her and her happiness because Rei relaying on her like this means that Rei’s starting to trust her. Runner up – Minako/Rei.
+ I found it very interesting that Moon had really no reaction to Venus leaving. Shouldn’t and in fact all her attention was on Mars from the moment she was freed. I just find it a bit weird. Where’s her hero-worship and desire to be friends?
+ “A leader’s power is to cooperate with everyone.” – Minako. My first thought when she said this was about how she fails at that part of her job!
+ “Quietly let our minds become one.” – Zoisite. The dirty side of my brain went – ‘…let our bodies become one.’ It seemed the song he was playing to make Mamoru remember appeared to be working.
