True Blood 4x02 Review

• I really liked the opening Sookie/Eric scene. So Eric baring his teeth and lunging at Sookie was just so TPTB could have a cliffhanger moment then? That’s annoying. What’s the Watsonian reasoning then? He was... playing? Trying to scare or tease her?
• Sookie:“You bought my house. The house does not come with me inside it.” I liked that.
• I love Sookie’s reaction to Eric using his speed – eye-rolling exasperation.
• Eric: “I care about you. ... I am asking you to be mine.” Hmm. So he’s going to court her with truth and sincerity and gifts then? I did like him fixing the door, the fact that he noticed that it needed to be fixed. What was with the blood in the empty fridge?
• Why would Sookie want to have another relationship like the one she had with Bill? Where he lied to her constantly and then almost killed her?
• How does Sookie back-talking/being snarky to more powerful people (as Eric suggests) protect her? It certainly hasn’t seemed to have helped thus far.
• Bill may have looked sheepish when Sookie walked in on him and Katerina getting dressed but it was so clearly... fake. He’s a vampire. If he hadn’t wanted Sookie to find him like that she wouldn’t have. He is such an ass. Or was this his way to try and make her jealous?
• Sookie: “Every time I found out something new about you I ended up wishing I didn’t know.” Ouch but at the same time it made me smile a little.
• Terry: I'm your daddy and I ain't rotten and neither are you. You hear me? Your momma just gets a little crazy sometimes which means we just gotta love her that much harder. ♥ Thank god that baby has Terry. Terry is awesome. I love him.
• Why did Sookie see the fairies when Tara arrived?
• Why the hell is Sookie going with the lame excuse instead of telling Tara the truth? There is no reason for Sookie to keep Tara in the dark. Why does Jason rate the truth and Tara doesn’t?
• I really liked the short Sookie/Tara scene we got. I loved Tara’s huge grin and they way they so easily slid back into habit. It would be really nice if this season we could get more scenes of them being friends.
• Sookie: “Hmm. This I’ll keep. ... Motherfucker!” LMAO. I love the way she said that.
• Oh Sookie. I realise she thinks she just saw Tara but she knows it’s been a year for them and they thought she was dead. (And the way that Sookie just brushes that off annoys me.) Bitching out Eric can wait a night. I mean it’s not like it would accomplish anything anyway. Sigh. Self-absorbed friend Sookie is my least favourite Sookie of all.
• I am really enjoying the Eric/Bill scenes this season. I find them interesting and amusing. I loved Eric’s sarcastic bow and "you're majesty". It’s annoying that the most enjoyable I’m finding Bill – sparing with Eric – is going to be missing for the rest of the season. I’m excited about the amnesia Eric storyline but a part of me is regretting it happening right now because the current Eric/Bill interactions and Eric as Sookie's landlord and him trying to woo her are interesting enough that I want to see more of how that plays out.
• Of course Bill only defeated Sophie-Anne by bringing in a bunch of guys with guns. I should have known that she was dead as soon as it was revealed that Bill was a spy for Nan but I was hoping that Sophie-Anne was somehow still alive.
• I loved the Sookie/Pam scene. They definitely need more together. Sookie tried to get Pam on her side made me shake my head. I LOL’d at Pam trying to talk up Eric to Sookie. Oh, and: “He pulls good string.” Pam is excellent. Also I love her calling Sookie ‘fairy princess’. The way she said it was perfect.
• Jessica: “Stop acting like my step-mom. I hated it before and I like it even less now.” Aw, but I like step-mom Sookie. I’d love to see more of her.
• I still don’t care about Sam or Tommy but Tommy’s “So then where do we start?” worked for me. I don't know that I believe he's sincere but I liked it.
• Oh Eric. The fact that he kept draining Marnie even after the other witches started chanting a spell and then got distracted by Tara made me shake my head so much. I feel like he needs to be introduced to Damon Salvatore and the proper way to act when you have a witch as an enemy.
• I don’t buy that Eric was actually going to bite Tara. Not Sookie’s best friend right when he’s trying to woo her. That makes no sense.
• I like that Lafayette was all about self-preservation - wouldn't help the others while Eric was draining Marnie because he didn't want to be on Eric's bad side again - but as soon as Tara was in trouble he moved to help.
• My only thought on Jason getting were-panthered is whether him having fairy blood could affect it? Oh, also: ouch. Poor Jason.
• I was really surprised that when Sookie saw Eric walking along the side of the street she didn’t immediately start in on him. I mean she left Fangtasia pretty angry, she’s the type of person who would spend her drive home seething and she’s pretty – self-absorbed. I would have expected her to slam on the breaks, jump out of the car and immediately start yelling at him. Instead she twigged to something being wrong immediately and was worried.
