The Zygon Invasion
It was okay.
+ When Osgood died last season I hadn't even considered her double so this was a great return. I really love what the show did with her and the relationship implied between her and her sister. Her more subtle fangirling - dressing like the Doctor - was great as always.
+ I don't buy Kate being killed offscreen. There is no way that would happen.
+ Aw, sad that Jac was killed off.
+ I feel like using Zygons as metaphors for a real life issue [refuge crisis] doesn't entirely work in the same way that X-Men being used as metaphors doesn't -- these aren't just normal people. Some mutants have powers that can destroy cities, or uncontrollable abilities that could randomly kill someone [which is really not like being gay at all and is something that is actually reasonable to be worried about.] The Zygons are refuges yes, but they're ones who can take any form, that can be anyone. There is a reason that this is a staple of horror films. It's not really on the same level as simple refuges. So some of it worked for me [the fear of ISIL militants posing as refuges to infiltrate other countries, the radicalisation of youth, the questions of how to deal with it, for instance] and some didn't.
+ So another hybrid. That's two now, Ashildr and Osgood, or three if you count Clara. ... Also I've suddenly remembered 'Dalek' and the human/Dalek hybrid Rose inadvertently created. And then there's Ten II the Time Lord/Human hybrid. I wonder where this is all going?
+ Isn't Kate in charge of UNIT? Why the heck is she going to Truth and Consequences instead of sending others? The Doctor is not the boss of her.
+ What happened in Truth of Consequences was really dark. Humans saw a Zygon child uncloaked and mobbed it, fighting broke out and all the humans of the town [including presumably all of the children] were murdered. Yikes.
+ Also dark: the amount of UNIT people murdered this episode. I find that I'm very glad that Martha left because UNIT really doesn't have the best survival rate.
