Person of Interest 4x08 & 4x09 Thoughts

I really liked it.
+ This ep's Number Silva was great and I’m hoping she shows up again. She’s perfectly placed to help Reese/Team Machine if they should ever need it.
+ I loved Bear out in the field. Hanging with the grenades, searching out people, going diving... all good.
+ Elias as the new, self-chosen, Number is exciting. Dare I hope for both Elias/Reese and Elias/Finch interactions.
+ I loved the Martine bar scene, that bit with the guns was brilliant.
+ My favourite bit though was that small moment when Dominic drew a circle on the blackboard and revealed that he was in the class that Finch taught when he went undercover in 2x11. ! Not only was he in Finch’s class but Finch’s lesson stuck with him enough that he both still remembers it and has incorporated it into the foundations of how he operates. This is kind of awesome. Finch inspired Dominick but not to do good like expected. Because everyone makes their choices and Dominic chose a different path. I love this twist. Man, I want the two of them to meet now.
4x09 'The Devil You Know'
I loved it.
+ Elias/Anthony were pretty amazing and I'm now super sad that ol' Scarface is dead now. I even got teary-eyed a bit at their goodbye. It was really moving! Both of them were so emotional. I've always really enjoyed what we've seen of their relationship but this episode made me love them and now I want to know more. Damn. Also I'm shipping them. But honestly I can't be blamed - they are super loyal to each other, both were willing to give their lives for each other, Elias said this: "But his is the one (life) I care about." and the love they clearly had for each other shone so brightly during the last half of the episode. Elias's worry when Anthony was shot, the last look they exchanged, that amazing last phone call.
+ Shaw/Root were wonderful. They got so many great moments: Root keeping Shaw up close and personal in the moving van; Root getting sincere and almost emotional with Shaw when telling her other people are scared about what could happen to her, "People who care for you."; Shaw trying to get Root to tell her with a flirty "Please"; this exchange after Root tricks and drugs Shaw:
Root: Sorry sweetie.
Shaw: I will end you.
Root: You can end me all you want.
I loved this. Shaw grabbing Root's neck was pretty hot and Root clearly thought so too. Are they still doing the whole UST thing or is this flirting all resolved? There is clearly something there, even if it might be a little messed up, and it's there on both their parts but I honestly can't tell if they've acted on their feelings or not.
+ I also really enjoyed all the Reese/Elias interactions - Reese's determination to save Elias, Elias turning the gun on Reese to protect him, and then Reese going back in and saving Elias again. They have such a great dynamic. I was really reminded of their first episode.
+ Fusco bluffing Martine like a boss was awesome. Loved it. I wish Team Machine would tell him the truth.
+ Finch going out to backup Reese was great.
+ I'm really excited for the upcoming Dominic/Finch meeting. I love that Dominic figured out Finch's existence already even if it's only as a question mark.
+ It seems Anthony might have gotten to Link a bit. I wonder which way he's going to go. Dominic certainly doesn't seem to feel loyal towards Link which makes me think that we might see Link turning against him at an important moment.
+ Loved the Shaw/Martine showdown.
+ I'm glad that Elias still has Bruce, someone completely loyal to him and who knows and cares about him as a person, but it seems wrong to not have Anthony hovering in the background.
+ "It’s coming for us all." – Reese. This sounded unhappily like foreshadowing
+ This episode was all about protecting people. Root protecting Shaw by physically saving her and then knocking her out, Finch protecting Shaw and Fusco by leaving them out of the Elias situation, Reese protecting Elias, Antony protecting Elias and Elias trying to do the same, Fusco protecting Shaw and Root. I don't have a point with this it just stuck out. Every episode is about protecting someone but with this episode it felt more prominent as a theme.
