I Want to Be in the Circus, That's Where I Belong

This episode was both aggravating and enjoyable.

• Vicki/Nick’s speed bump was not only not shown but we didn’t even see its appearance which leads me to wonder what’s going on. It really bothered me.

• I liked the tasks in this episode. The circus detour had two options that seemed equally difficult. I liked that there was so much running and that the teams had to go to several different places. The roadblock also looked pretty fun and was clearly more difficult then it looked. I found it interesting that most of the racers ended up working with the other person who went into the tower with them.

• I love that Nat/Kat came in first again and Brook/Claire came in second. They’re both doing so well. Not only is it great to see two female teams doing so well but these two teams are both just really nice. None of them scream or yell at their partner, there is no blaming or swearing or otherwise being an ass and that’s enjoyable to watch. The only other team like that (still in the game) is Gary/Mallory and I like them too.

• As of now my final three are Nat/Kat, Brook/Claire and Gary/Mallory. Jill/Thomas are pretty good together as well but I’m eh about them. I actually like Nick/Vicki when he isn’t being an asshole which unfortunately he showed signs of again in this episode. I do not want Chad/Stephanie to make it to the final three. I do not like him.

• I’m glad that Brook/Claire realised their mistake and worked to fix it. I wonder how long it took them to go back to the town and walk all the way back to the palace?

• Nick lying to Kevin and the others down below had no real purpose. Just say ‘we got it’ and refuse to say anymore.

• Then there’s Kevin/Michael. I’ve actually liked them throughout but Kevin has slowly been annoying me more. He has been very supportive of his dad but then there are the occasional times were he gets frustrated with him and can’t hide it. He never yells at his dad or loses it but sometimes I want to tell him to chill and stop putting pressure on his dad. He’s also several times ignored his dad and I really get this feeling that he does think he’s smarter than his dad and it rubs me the wrong way. He feels very condescending. It’s even more annoying considering that in the last two episodes his father was right and Kevin just kind of ignored what he was saying. In the last episode his father thought they should check the park for the pit stop, and said so several times, but Kevin had them walking around the cathedral long past time and they ended up in third instead of first like they should have been.

Then in this episode Kevin really screwed up. He really was why they lost. It started with him not reading the clue properly and having them take a taxi – immediately after his father said to make sure he read the clue completely. Then when they got to the town someone said to him that they weren’t supposed to take a taxi – and yet when he left he didn’t make sure to read the clue carefully and took a cab again. That was really what sunk them. If he’d realised he’d messed up and read the clue properly they’d still have been in the race. I suppose they’d also still be in it if they’d finished the roadblock sooner, perhaps if Kevin had taken the task, but mainly it was Kevin’s fault. It’s annoying at this point when racers make such a stupid mistake and this particular time was more annoying than usual.
