Agent Carter 2x08 & 2x09 Thoughts

+ I loved Peggy and Sousa fighting Joseph Manfredi's men in the background while he argued sauce recipes with his mom in the kitchen.
+ The Jarvis/Ana scene where she wakes up was lovely.
+ I really don't like that Jarvis didn't tell Ana the truth about her now being unable to have children. His emotional "you're perfect" just made me angrier. Her not being able to have children doesn't make her any less, and while that's what he's affirming, the fact that he feels the need to say it indicates to me that he thinks on some level it should. They have such an open and supportive relationship normally that this feels so off. Maybe if pregnancy/kids had ever come up before as something Ana desperately wanted I could understand Jarvis feeling the need to protect Ana by keeping the truth from her (though not really) but as it is it's just weird and annoying.
+ I'm rather enjoying the Whitney/Joseph relationship. It's his devotion to her that's really working for me. I think they're actually pretty perfect together. They get each other, he respects her and sees more than her beauty. I loved him telling her that the marks on her face aren't something she should be ashamed of but are signs of power.
+ I'm having a hard time buying Wilkes turn against Peggy. Him being caught up in the science and mystery of it and his need to know more, him struggling with his fear of what'll happen to him, the voices they're apparently now hearing... all of that I can see leading him to agree to the bomb test with Whitney. But I can't buy him turning the gun on Peggy and being willing to kill her.
+ "Will you just shoot the thing for god's sake" I just really loved how Peggy said this. She is just so exasperated and done with everyone at this point.
+ "Do as Peggy says!" - Jack/Sousa. ♥ I loved this. They could have easily said 'shoot the cannon' or something similar but instead they both immediately went to reinforcing Peggy's orders. Also this calls back to Peggy's line in the first season when she told Dum Dum what Steve would say.
+ I'm really not sure how I feel about Jarvis straight-up murdering Whitney. I get that he's distraught and I think if Ana had died I might have bought it - he's running on adrenalin and fury and hasn't had time to really think this through or move past that immediate anger - but as it is I'm having a hard time with it. With buying Jarvis doing something like that.
2x09 'A Little Song and Dance
+ Peggy's knockout daydream was pretty plot unnecessary and indulgent but I loved it. It was a lot of fun. I liked her subconscious in the form of Michael telling her that she's doing what she wants to do (and not for him as she tries to excuse.) It was really nice to see Angie again. The dancing and singing was fun.
But my favourite part was the appearance of Dottie. The whole set up: Angie and her chorus singing to Peggy re: her romantic options with lines like "who 's it going to be" and ending with "What are you going to do, it's up to you." as Angie twirls Peggy around to end up face to face with -- Dottie! This is clearly an unsubtle hint about her subconscious choice right? Because that's how I'm taking it and she's my choice too! Also: "Oh Peggy I'll always be in your head."
+ It's sad to see Peggy and Jarvis fighting and so angry at each other but Jarvis totally deserved Peggy's anger. His actions were 'reckless and selfish' and also he just murdered a woman. Sure, she came back to life and she's a murderer herself but still murder.
I liked Peggy calling Jarvis on how he begged to be able to join her on her adventures, on how he considers her job as a 'lark' before returning to his safe home and that "when there is a consequence you blame me for the choices you have made". I also liked her telling him to stop sulking.
I liked all of it in fact except - "...knowing nothing of loss." because seriously, Peggy? Even without the children thing he's a person, who presumably has made connections with other people and who had family. Of course he knows something about loss! What a dumb thing to say. That said Ana being unable to have children is in no way comparable as a loss to losses Peggy has suffered.
+ I really love how compatent Peggy is. Of course she'd have a hot wire on her. I loved her taking out Joseph's men.
+ I loved Peggy just striding into the office and punching Venon in the face a bunch of times.
+ "Who does Peggy have? Only you." I loved Ana sending Jarvis to help Peggy. She's so lovely.
+ I really liked Wilkes refusing Peggy's excuses for him and telling her that it was all him because I didn't want it to be the Zero Matter controlling him. I liked him getting her to safety and then trying to get himself away from other people. I liked how all episode he was worried about being a danger towards other people. In the end, if this is the end, Wilkes is a fairly grey character which I have no problem with, even like. But I still don't buy him turning the gun on Peggy.
+ So I figured in the end Jack would choose Team Peggy and sacrifice himself to save someone/the day but I like how it played out so much more. Jack turning out to be a good guy didn't surprise me but I kind of love that he didn't choose a side. He looked at the situation, came up with his own very pragmatic solution to it and then executed it himself. And I kind of think his idea was pretty solid? It was a good plan.
+ That file was totally about Peggy's brother wasn't it? I imagine that if we do get a third season it will involve some revelations about him perhaps including the fact that he's alive. Sharon could be his grand-daughter then?
