I loved it.

+ This was an amazing Root/Finch episode. I loved everything with them.

Root being so verbal about how she feels about Finch was wonderful. Then learning that she knew the truth all along and was already planning to kill Beth her unexpectedly being so open with him makes even more sense. "You know I'd do anything. Anything." and "How I can't imagine what the world would be like without you. What I'd be like." are her laying out the reasoning behind her decision.

I love their little moments of physical affection too - Root kissing him goodbye on the cheek, Finch placing his hand on her shoulder (indicating that he isn't rejecting her) and her covering it with her own. I loved her expression when he did that.

I loved the way Root says "Harold" when he was explaining what he did and the expression on her face. She is still filled with such awe of him. I loved "Dangerous and bold, that's my Harry."

I'm a little shocked but delighted that Root not only went against the Mission and getting a potential advantage against Samaritan but went directly against the Machine's wishes by deciding to protect Finch at all costs. Is this the first time she's gone against the Machine?

I liked Root and Finch discussing the guilt both feel for Shaw's loss.

Everything this episode just emphasised how much Root has grown. I also loved that at the end she found a non-lethal way to protect Harold and accepted that he might cut off contact with her but accepted that as a risk because him being alive was enough for her.

+ WTF, Finch! Even with him wanting to save a friend intersecting with his grief and guilt over losing Shaw added to his need for his plan to succeed this was a bit extreme!

+ I love the Machine reaching out to other people on her own. And once again having two separate missions intersecting.

+ I liked Reese's B-plot. It was a nice little Number of the week story. Frankie and her interactions with Reese were fun, Harper's return and her interactions with Reese were nice and I loved Harper negotiating the tense standoff at the end.

+ Fusco only had a couple short scenes but I liked how amused he was by Frankie(/Reese) and I loved him digging further into Ray and figuring out the truth. I love when he gets to show that he really is a competent cop.

+ No but seriously how has the show done so badly with Reese/Iris? I find them boring and, unless there's some interesting reveal about her later, pointless. It's made especially glaring this episode with the introduction of Frankie who's pretty great with Reese! I could get behind her sticking around.
