Sleepy Hollow 3.18 'Ragnarok'

Well.

+ On the one hand, apparently Nicole Beharie wanted to leave the show and despite the chances of renewal being bad they decided they wanted to leave it open for the show to continue. I would have preferred them accepting this was the end and giving us something happier but okay. As far as that goes they did an okay job setting it up. Abbie being willing to sacrifice herself to save the world makes sense, the scenes of her in the afterlife were lovely, and she seemed genuinely at peace which is at least a nice end. For being backed into a corner this was a pretty good direction to go.

On the other hand, what the fuck show??! How dare they make Abbie's entire existence as a Witness about helping Ichabod reach his destiny. That's just infuriating. I am so mad about that.

+ I was also really mad about how sidelined Jenny was. I mean during Abbie's death scene Jenny was an afterthought - it's Ichabod only who tries to stop her, Abbie attention and last words were for Ichabod (in fact she says nothing at all to Jenny), we see Ichabod's horror as he calls her name while Jenny mostly looks confused the only time the camera cuts to her. Seriously show?

+ Abbie/Ichabod were lovely as always. I really liked their final scene.

+ Then there's the elephant in the room which sort of gets addressed... that is the potential of a romantic relationship between them. Twice this episode someone tells Ichabod "you love her" regarding Abbie. Once from former love interest Betsy, in front of Abbie. Yet the show doesn't actually do anything with that. Ichabod doesn't confirm that he's in love with her, he and Abbie don't confess any feelings to each other. They just kind of throw it out there and then leave it hanging. It was weird.

+ The defeat of both of the season's bad guys was kind of disappointing and anti-climatic.

+ I loved Abbie's reunion with Corbin and his reunion with Joe.

+ Abbie and Jenny's reunion at the beginning was lovely. I love their hugs.

+ The last scene with Ichabod and Jenny was nice.

+ I'm honestly having a hard time understanding why a) the show added the Danny/Abbie romance, and b) made Ichabod/Betsy have unrealised romantic feelings, considering both ended up being mostly pointless time wasters. Sigh.

Person of Interest 4x19 'Search and Destroy'

+ I loved the opening scene of Reese trying to teach Finch how to use a gun. "I won't be around forever. I just need to know that you can protect yourself when I'm gone. Aw.

+ So I'm betting at some point in the finale Finch is going to have to use a gun or his lack of experience with a gun is going to come back to bite him.

+ I'm annoyed with Finch and his obsession with secrecy especially at this stage in the game. He should have told Saul the truth like both Root and Reese suggested. There was no real reason not to tell him. Saul was already in Samaritan's crosshairs and he had already figured out that there was an AI. He could have been a good ally and instead Finch's need for secrecy got him killed.

+ Loved Root, Reese and Finch all working together as a team. Loved them eating dinner in the safe house together.

+ A couple cute Finch/Root moments - Root asking for the orange chicken and checking in if he'd forgiven her yet, and then a little later he notices she's using his laptop and she looks all 'oops'.

+ I loved Root's fury when she saw Martine, their fight was great and I loved that moment between Reese and Root back at base where he acknowledged that he should have let her kill Martine.

+ It was great to see Zoe again. I love the easiness of her relationship with Reese. She got him to smile! They have so much fun together.
