Yay! I'm so happy to have this show back. I really enjoyed this episode.

• The Finch/Machine stuff was phenomenal. I loved it. He called her 'she'!

I wasn't entirely certain about them doing another series of flashbacks and wasn't sure what they could add to what we already knew but I ended up loving it. I'm not sure how much of this is a retcon but I love how torn up Finch was about the memory erasing code. Him confessing to Grace that his head and heart were telling him to do different things felt huge. Last season's flashbacks emphasized Finch's distrust of the Machine and what she could become. This indicated though that while his head was afraid and suspicious in his heart he cared.

Then we get that final flashback scene and we get to see Finch struggle so hard in his conversation with the Machine. You can see the conflict between heart and brain, and I really appreciated that. I don't care if this is a retcon because this is what I want from their relationship. The fact that Finch pretty much immediately regretted starting the erasure was tragic and I loved that too.

+ "How will I learn from my mistakes? how will I continue to grow? And how will I remember you?" - Machine. Ugh, this show kills me sometimes. Poor baby Machine.

+ I think one of my favourite little moments was baby Machine giving Harold condolences on his father's death.

+ "If somehow you get through all of this I promise you I won't make the same mistake again." - Finch, to the Machine. ♥ YES! Does this mean that we will finally, finally!, be getting dad!Finch??? Because I want so much.

• I loved seeing Nathan again. His relationship with Finch is so wonderful, I adore how optimistic and just good he is as a person and I love how much he influenced who Finch became.

"I'm not prepared to lose either of you yet." - Finch. I love protective Finch. I love his expression when Reese left. I loved Finch saving Reese at the ferry.

"Because it's a reflection of you." - Root to Finch, on how she can be comfortable with the Machine being superior to humans.

• Lovely, lovely Reese/Root. Reese going on the hunt for Root because they 'don't leave people behind'. Reese trying to send Root back to Finch (and safety) and Root responding with "Fight's here and so am I." ♥ Also that shot of them shooting together was great.

• I loved how while the other two were panicking at the end, Root running around frantic but mostly helpless and Finch doing his best impression of Eeyore, Reese was being all decisive and practical and saved the day with some liquid nitrogen.

• I loved Root, in explaining the changes in her life, saying she 'got a new job, fell in love'.

• Okay, but no seriously they need to freaking tell Fusco the truth already! Reese should know 'trust me' isn't going to fly for long. Of course Fusco would investigate on his own. I am so worried him not knowing is going to get him killed and that will make me so mad.
