This was a good episode but sad.
Arkadia
• I'm so sad Lincoln died. There may have been some tears. I basically knew it would happen, even though I haven't been spoiled, because what's been happening in the show + behind the scenes drama + RW's new show + that moment in the S3 trailer but it still makes me so sad. He was such a good person. One of the best, goodest people on the show. Of course it would be that innate honourableness that would lead to his death. There really wasn't any other choice he would have made. He'd never let his people die in his place. I loved his last moment - looking into the sky to tell Octavia 'may we meet again'.
• That last Octavia/Lincoln moment was heartbreaking because you knew how it would play out. I loved her deciding to stay and fight with him, I loved their kiss, and him telling her he loved her. I didn't even mind that he then knocked her out and made the choice for her which so often does. She would have died with him and it would have been a pointless death.
• Octavia's face during Lincoln's execution was amazing. She was so devastated and heartbroken and then the way it shifts to cold fury! Marie Avgeropoulos did an amazing job. Someone is going to pay and I'm keeping fingers crossed that she's the one who gets to kill Pike. Murder everyone Octavia!
• I really enjoyed the Lincoln/Kane scenes. They understood each other very well and respected each other a lot and you could see it in every exchange.
• Bellamy was annoying me this episode. I get his frustration with no one trusting him but what the fuck was he expecting? (Same with Monty.) Bellamy was instrumental in Pike gaining power, he helped massacre 300 people, he's been running around being a supportive little fascist. Of course they don't trust him. It's sucks because he wants to help and because he's so afraid that things are going to go wrong but it's a consequence that he needs to accept.
• "Should I have let Pike kill you?" WTF? That is not a defence Bellamy! I'm so aggravated at the way those 300 are being brushed away. This is not analogous to Mount Weather, this is analogous to the Grounder village Finn massacred. Which also happened to be Indra's people.
• At the same time the fact that Bellamy saved Indra for Octavia because he knew how much Indra meant to her made me aww. And then we got this:
"Maybe this time Octavia will get it - you're loyalty will always be to your people." - Bellamy.
"Octavia is my people" - Indra
♥ I had the biggest smile at that. I love Indra's expression when she said that. I was also rolling my eyes at Bellamy here. I mean duh Indra's going to be loyal to her people why would you expect anything else? And why, considering how aligned with Trikru Octavia has been and how close she is with Indra, would he think they aren't loyal to each other above all else?
• I am so so glad that Monty helped them escape and chose his friends. And I'm glad that they know that.
• Nice to see Abby back but I still find her disappearance from the plot super weird. I loved her helping with the escape plan and Abby/Kane were so great. The tearful goodbye when they think he's going to be executed and then the kiss when he leaves and she stays! I'm glad that she decided to stay behind. Team Abby/Harper/Monty(/Raven?)!
• It was a throwaway line but I was so happy to learn that Nyko isn't in the Arkadia prison.
• Pike assuring Lincoln that his people wouldn't be freed but would be taken care of was... what even as that? An attempt to soften Pike and make him more sympathetic? Because showing a small moment of decency is not going to do it. Not when it's immediately followed by him executing Lincoln and when it was proceeded by basically everything Pike has ever done.
• I love that Octavia hid them in the floor. The whole escape was great.
Polis
• I loved Titus naming Clarke Flamekeeper and his successor. I'm excited that she's out of Polis and on a mission now. I loved all the little moments of grief we got from her - looking at the bed again, her expression when Aden asked if she wanted a moment with Lexa, her expression when she asked Titus if Lexa was really in there and then at the end when she watched Lexa's pyre burn and looked at the chip that held all that was left of her.
I have to admit that what I want is for Clarke to become the next Heda somehow. I want Clarke to get that AI chip. The black blood was created so there's no reason it couldn't be again. I'd love for Clarke to have that connection to Lexa and it'd certainly add an interesting twist to the politics of the show.
• I'm glad that Titus kept his word to Lexa and kept Clarke safe. I was definitely not expecting him to kill himself! That was a pretty amazing fuck you.
• I liked Murphy/Clarke though I'm really disappointed that we didn't get more of them actually talking. I did like him offering his condolences for Lexa. I like that he stuck with her in Polis instead of leaving when he could. I like that she checked in about his safety before leaving though at the same time - don't leave him behind, Clarke! Also this made me laugh:
"That's not a bad point." - Murphy
"Shut up, Murphy." - Clarke. LOL!
• Overall even though he didn't actually do a lot I really enjoyed Murphy and I'm so glad that he's back in the thick of things again.
• Murphy/Ontari is certainly not a pairing I ever saw coming... but it kind of works? IDK, I was enjoying their weird sort of bonding.
• It was great to see Roan again. I love him pulling Clarke aside and hiding her from Ontari's sight and then him offering her an escape to clear his debt to Lexa. I'm rather excited to see how their next interaction goes. Sure, Ontari is Azgeda but I wonder just how willing he'll be to continue supporting her once she's actually in power.
• Poor Aden. I knew as soon as Ontari showed up that he would die but it still makes me sad. Poor kids. I loved how much they loved Lexa. And in a way I find it a little comforting that they didn't actually have to fight each other to the death.
