The 100 3x16 Review

Hmmm. I enjoyed it but it was a bit underwhelming. It didn't entirely live up to the previous episode and I was a little disappointed too. But I still liked it! There were a lot of really wonderful moments and interactions.
• I loved the Clarke/Abby reunion. It was beautiful. Abby's remorse and Clarke trying to reassure her. Abby's immediate rejection of Clarke's plan and Clarke telling her "you have to let me go". The head kiss! Abby crouched in front of Clarke with a gun, ready to defend her. I'm so glad that she didn't end up having to kill Jackson.
• I loved seeing Lexa again. I knew it was coming but her entrence was so badass! I especially loved the fact that she got to go out this time as the warrior queen she is - in battle, helping to save the day. I'm really pleased that was our last shot of her. I also think it's been left open enough that she could potentially return which makes me happy.
• Lexa/Clarke were so wonderful. Their reunion was perfect. The expressions on their faces as the hugged each other and the way Clarke touched her face gave me so many feels. Yay, for the kiss and Lexa taking care of Clarke. Yay, for Clarke saying 'I love you' and Lexa getting to hear that.
• I loved the Clarke/Bellamy interactions. It felt like season 2 Bellamy/Clarke back. Him unwavering support of her, the joke about hanging upside down to distract her when the blood transfusion started, him holding her hand when Murphy put the flame in her, his "I believe you" and him going to Clarke and helping her up after everything was done. They were great.
• I loved Murphy. I really loved him telling Abby like it is and helping Clarke with the flame [look he is a Flamekeeper!]. I loved his continuing snark.
• Abby opening Ontari's chest to manually force her heart was a great moment. I also loved her ordering Murphy to pump Ontari's heart and after his immediate squemishness him being all "I got this". That said I don't understand why she needed him to do it since she wasn't really doing anything afterwards?
• I loved that little moment between Clarke and Murphy and her "Thank you" and his complete inability to just accept sincere appreciation without snark.
• I loved Raven creating a backdoor/escape hatch for Clarke. I knew she would end up being an integral part of saving the day.
• I loved Monty and Harper taking out Jasper. I love that it was a team effort with Raven providing the distraction, Monty shooting Jasper in the leg and then Harper taking him down. So much love that it was Harper, who ended the last episode as Jasper's prisoner, being the one to knock him out.
• I loved Clarke taking command, not unexpectedly, but I always love it. And I liked her acknowledging at the end that you can't run from your problems.
• Yay to Indra surviving.
• I'm taking the fact that Roan wasn't mentioned once and that everyone else survived as a clear sign that Roan is also alive.
• I'm not entirely sure how I feel about Octavia this ep with her attack on Pike during the attack and then killing Pike at the end. This is definitely a dark turn for her story but not an entirely unexpected one. Her first attack on Pike was a really dumb thing to do considering the stakes and how it jeopardized everything but was also a smart way to get rid of him. Still it made me want to shake her and tell her to get a grip. Her killing him at the end - well, I do kind of love that we got a twist on the expected. The fact that he saved her in battle and then we get him giving her a head nod of acknowledgement afterwards and instead of it ending with a peace between then she just up and kills him was a shock but also great? Because saving her, and being on her side, doesn't make up for what he did and doesn't erase the slate. Sometimes people do accept that acknowledgement and can move on, and we've seen that, but sometimes they don't. It's certainly an interesting path for Octavia.
• Clarke taking the Flame via blood-exchange and it not being something that could be permanent really worked for me on one level - I like the tension it added to the story - but at the same time I'm a little disappointed it wasn't permanent.
• I'm in the weird position where I'm a bit offput and even disappointed (?) by the fact that everyone apparently lived (*minus one exception). Not that I wanted anyone to die but considering the stakes and where we left things at in the last episode it doesn't feel... satisfying on a story level for everyone to live? I mean, it's nice if unusal to get a somewhat upbeat ending with everyone happy-ish and alive but it also feels off. Huh.
• It bugged me a little that the Indra/Kane cliffhanger was completely ignored even though it wasn't really that necessary for the plot to be shown.
• I thought at the end of the last episode Jaha might overcome ALIE when Abby hanged herself but that didn't happen and after watching this ep I find myself even more disappointed by that. Considering how little of a role he played here I think it would have been far more interest for his character to have broken free and to fight at the end.
• I realise Raven's had her upgrade and knows all about computers and more importantly ALIE's code now but Monty knows a bit about it too and it would have been nice to have seen him sitting at a computer helping Raven too.
