Stay By My Side As Light Within the Darkness

This was a very nice wrap up finale for what turned out to be a really great series. I loved it.

• I love that the series ends with Hye-sung taking a sign language class and then using that new knowledge with her latest client.

• The big Soo-ha/Hye-sung scene was a delight. Her confessing the truth about her feelings in a rush of emotion and then being mortified afterwards while Soo-ha is amused is perfectly them. I really love that she tells him that she'll fight for him and if they lose she will wait for him. Him teasing her into saying she loves him again was really cute. Then there was them wrapping their arms around each other, and staring into each others eyes (which has added meaning with Soo-ha!) and the kiss. It was a great scene.

They were lovely throughout the whole episode and I really liked the epilogue with them living together, compromising for each other and dealing with their fears. Loved Soo-ha's: "Even if that end comes I’ll find her again, and start all over, and be happy again." That last shot post credits of him in uniform and them smiling and him lifting her into his arms was adorable.

• The journey that Hye-sung and Do-yeon have taken over the course of this show was truly lovely. One of my favourite things is that their rivalry and issues with each other had nothing to do with a man but were based on their shared past and remained entirely about them for the whole series. I love how they've reached a stage of mostly friendship by the end in a really organic and believable way. As shown by them pressing the elevator door close buttons together for once, lol. Truely a sign of friendship there.

• Hye-sung/Kwan-woo also got two really lovely moments. First, Hye-sung telling everyone that she's on Kwan-woo's side and then their conversation after where she brushes it aside, he realises that she supported him without understanding why he made his choice and he thanks her for it. Their smiles were sweet. Second, Hye-sung thanking him for everything he's done for her and then kissing his hand and the little moment they shared was beautiful and I loved the callback to their past, and his expression and it's perfect.

• I love that Soo-ha did become a police officer. He's seriously going to be the best police officer ever and this show needs that. I love the idea of Soo-ha working with Hye-sung [or Kwan-woo or even Do-yeon] on cases, solving crimes and putting away the guilty while helping the innocent. I'm head-canoning that he gets partnered up with the detective who shadowed him for the last couple episodes.

• Kwan-woo and Soo-ha also got a really nice moment and I loved how hard Kwan-woo fought for Soo-ha's freedom.

• Kwan-woo vs Do-yeon were pretty amusing. On the one hand, I rather like that they never hooked up nor was there any hint of it because it's so different from how it usually goes. But on the other hand, their interactions in this ep were pretty amusing and now I kind of want to see it.

• I loved that poor Judge Kim got trapped in the revolving door and thus the Kwan-woo/Do-yeon conversation. I also love that he went after Do-yeon and gave her some really good advice.

• Do-yeon and Hye-sung both hitting the door close buttons made me lol. I loved the whole scene with poor Judge Kim trying to get some acknowledgement as they talk over him and him finally blowing up at Hye-sung never thanking him. Her very sincere thanks thus became even better. And then he frantically tried to get his phone so he could take a picture and document the momentous occasion, lol.

• Do-yeon being with Dal-joong at the end was sad. Her drawing him one last picture and his thumbs up, ack, they deserved so much more time. I was half expecting her mom to be standing there when the camera pulled back and I wish she had been.

• I loved Soo-ha deciding to tell the truth about Hye-sung's stabbing and accept the consequences of it. It was the right thing to do.

• Kwan-woo representing Joon-gook is completely insane but honestly it actually worked for me. Of course Kwan-woo would represent even someone who had caused so much pain. Of course he of all people would feel pity/sympathy for Joon-gook. It felt like him going full circle back to his naive first days of being a prosecutor except now he's an older and wiser version. I really loved the scene between the two of them where Kwan-woo forces Joon-gook to confront the fact the he did know he was in the wrong but couldn't stop and face the truth. Kwan-woo forcing him to face that truth was so great.

• I liked that they added a scene with Hye-sung at her mom's memorial.

• I loved the reveal of Hye-sung being in the office as the guys discussed Kwan-woo representing Joon-gook and then the same thing happening with Shin being revealed to be witness to Hye-sung/Kwan-woo's moment.

• I liked that Soo-ha finally shut down Sung-bin's crush, in the gentlest way possible, and him calling Choong-ki.
