5x06 'A More Perfect Union'

+ I loved the Finch/Root dance. I loved all their little smiles. I just love everything about their relationship together. I'm so glad that he realised that she was lonely.

+ That shot of the Root, Reese and Finch at the wedding, watching everyone be happy while knowing it would all come crashing down the next day, was a really great little moment but it felt really ominous and foreshadowey.

5x07 'QSO'

I really enjoyed this.

+ I love Root's message, because of her tenacity in pushing the Machine to help her find Shaw, came just in time to save Shaw from despair and give her hope again.

+ I love Root taking Fusco's jello and then giving it to Reese. Aw.

+ I'm mad about them being so stubborn about keeping Fusco in the dark but Reese and Finch both staying outside Fusco's room, standing guard while he recovered, makes me awww so much.

+ "It's for Root." - Reese. That just made me aww too.

+ I loved the little look into Root's life and how it works but it seems so exhausting. Finch and Reese both seemed surprised that Root was working her own numbers but it's clearly an integral part of her everyday routine even if it's only the ones that will help the wider mission. Vassily's enamoured "marry me" was great.

+ I am so over Finch & Reese's refusal to just tell Lionel the goddamn truth already, Root also clearly sees the stupidness of the entire thing and Fusco himself is literally done with it. Fusco's confrontation with Finch and his attempted justification was sooo satisfying. He basically hit every point I've been fuming about in a delightful and uncompromising smackdown. Their attempt to keep him out of the line of fire (while still using him on Numbers) is very clearly not working. What with the whole blown up thing. Solving crimes is his job. And: "you and John still can't show me the respect of telling me the truth" - thank you. He's not a child. He's been involved for years. He deserves the truth.

I was really hopeful that Fusco almost getting blown up would change Finch's approach to him and then I was hoping that Fusco's words would change his mind but alas it doesn't seem so. It's frustrating. That said Finch's reaction to Fusco's words made me feel for him. He was so upset and he is trying his best to protect the people important to him - he's just going about it wrong in this case.

5x08 'Reassortment'

+ I'm so irritated by the continuing Fusco exclusion storyline, even though it is clearly going somewhere, and even more I'm beginning to get mad at the show-runners for chosing to go this route with the final season. I don't enjoy spending so much of my time, in these final episodes, being irritated and mad at characters I love.

+ "Lionel, I told you to stay out of this." - Reese. Oh fuck you, John. Ugh. And in this case it's not even Fusco trying to get involved in whatever the team is doing, it's Fusco doing his damn job as a cop and following a suspect into their current case so it's even more aggravating. Is it wrong that I wanted Fusco to punch him in the face? Of course he basically metaphorically did that at the end when he informed Reese that he'd requested a new partner and rejected Reese.

As with Finch last ep I was mad at Reese with regards to Fusco but at the same time felt really bad for him when Fusco smacked him down hard. When he called Fusco "my partner" I went aww which made Fusco's rejection all the more painful. (And yet still very deserved.)

+ I am really intrigued where the show is going with Elias telling Finch that he's "the darkest one of us all". Like all the foreshadowing this season it feels like this is only going to lead to somewhere bad. What is going to make Finch 'boil over'? All I can think is someone's death. Fusco, after they isolated him to keep him safe? (ack, I'm so worried about him) Shaw, after only just getting her back? (probably not) Could Samaritan go after Grace? (... maybe. She's what made him almost boil over before - "kill everyone" - after all). Reese or Root dying? (they wouldn't do that until the end, if they do, right?) And when he does what exactly is he going to do? I wonder if this is all going to have something to do with the cage match he has set up in the Faraday cage? It's never made sense to me that he's locked Root out so perhaps he has something else going on.

+ The show saved Elias for a reason which I'm glad about but I wish they'd start to use him.

+ "Harry be sure to wash you hand often. And Bear's paws." - Root. Cute. I love when she's all concerned for Harold.
