Killjoys 2x05 Thoughts

I loved it.
+ I loved the Simm family storyline and Pawter's relationship with her mom and dad and sister were all very distict and interesting. I loved her parents and how their roles were reversed from how they usually are. I loved that her mom isn't only the Head of the Simms family but is also a scientist. I loved that she married down to marry her husband and got away with it because she always won her battles. I loved that Adaline used her fuck up as a way to get further information about the contagion for Pawter.
+ I really like Louella. I love that she thought of the servants in the boat house and went to warn them, completely ignoring the danger to herself. She won me over then. I liked how she handled losing her hand after the initial shock. I loved that she came up with the diving suit suggestion and when Pawter first ignored her she forced her sister to listen. I loved her reassuring Pawter that their mother did love her.
+ I loved the relationship between the sisters and I realy hope that we get more of them going forward. Their dynamic appears to be Louella as the ‘good’ one who lived as expected but at the same time was never considered as smart or able as her troubled older sister. Pawter was rather dismissive of Louella while Louella seemed a little resentful of Pawter and yet they clearly also loved each. I know that we're not going to get to see much of them (this is Dutch's show) but I want to see how they adjust to the new roles in their family especially as they now only have each other. I feel like Louella is going to prove to be a very important ally and support as Pawter takes up her new role as Lady of the Land.
+ The bodyswitch was so much fun. For the most part I was pretty impressed by the job both actors did. I loved all the Khylen/Dutch interactions.
+ So I'm definitely down for Dutch no longer hating Khylen but, uh, when exactly did that happen? It came a little out of nowhere and I really wish we'd gotten a little more build up.
+ "You're my gravity, Johnny Jacobis." ♥ I love them. But I don't really get why he has to lie to her? Eh. The hug was lovely. Also I loved the phone call of hypotheticals.
+ I'm so happy that Fancy is still very much himself even while he's now Khylen's lackey/follower. Snarky Fancy is the best.
+ "You're welcome to step outside and find some other technology." I love Lucy.
+ D'Avin/Sabine are rather cute. I could get behind that being explored more.
+ "I want to give a shit." - Johnny. Uh. Johnny does give a shit? That's who he is. This whole sudden desire to care 'like Pawter does' is clearly there to connect it to her dad's "choose the one who makes you a better man"... except he already cares! D'Avin literally points this out in the previous episode! So it ends up coming off as contrived to me. Pawter's dad's line re. 'having to make a choice between two people you love equally', definitely felt like foreshadowing but how it's being applied here doesn't entirely work for me. Nor does the whole lying thing which doesn't make much sense. Why do they need to lie again?
