I loved it. This season has been amazing.
• I am so very glad that Sabine survived D'Avin's penis because I loved what they did with her. I really love that she wasn't just this throw-away background female character. When we saw the white suited men dragging her body away while Dutch voice-overed that she thought "she deserved a fighting chance" I did a little cheer. I really like her and I hope so much that they bring her back. I can't wait.
• Sabine killing Phil when he tried to kill her was awesome and her contrite whispered 'sorry' while holding his decapitated head was hilarious. I loved Johnny's expression when he turned around and saw her.
• That last confrontation between Dutch and Sabine was perfect. What Sabine was saying wasn't entirely the truth but it also wasn't entirely a lie. The whole episode Dutch struggled with her darker parts and it scares her how dark she can be. But it's also not truth because of Johnny and D'Avin and Alvis and even Pree and others. She does care.
"I'm not afraid of being the bad guy." - Dutch
"There you go making me like you again." - Sabine.
• We've been seeing a lot of Dutch having a dark double this season and her having to face it as her own inner darkness. And now it appears that she might literally have a dark double! I love it. Is she a clone?
• I loved Dutch taking out the Black Root guy. The way she did it was totally badass.
• I enjoyed D'Avin/Sabine a lot. Even if she was playing him I do feel like they had a connection and she was sincere about that. I loved his sympathy for her. I loved their little bonding moments. I loved him letting her go because "I didn't want her last moments to be caged." and he wanted to give her a 'fighting chance' even though he didn't think for a second she could win against Dutch.
- I loved that, after telling D'Avin that she feels a deep connection to him and him waving it off, Sabine tells D'Avin that 'he doesn't get to tell her what it means for her' and he goes 'fair enough'. It was a great little moment.
• "Sorry, I'm not really up for penis roulette." - D'Avin. LOL!
• "Our team always comes first. Don't ever question that." - D'Avin. Yay. That was such a great moment for him. I love that he put a tracker on Sabine. I love the compassion he showed to her but that he also didn't let it overcome neither his good sense nor his loyalty to his team.
• I loved the bits we learned about Khylen. He's been around from the beginning and Dutch caused him to rebel against the Black Thorn/Sixes.
• I was really surprised by how little Dutch seemed to sympathise with Sabine for most of the episode. I loved all the D'Avin stuff and him understanding waking up in the green goo but Dutch also knows what it's like to be made into a weapon. To be used as a weapon. I'd have thought that with her past that Dutch would empathise with Sabine more. But maybe that makes it all the better that in the end she did and she left Sabine's 'dead' body to give her a chance.
• You know, Johnny does have a warrant for Artura so he should have played that card. He was just after his Warrant! Killjoys go the extra mile - like breaking into a private office - in order to see it through. He's only doing his job, Jelco! (you dick). That said, Johnny was being super dumb. That would have been the perfect time to bring his team into his and Pawter's secret club and the fact that he tried it alone makes me shake my head at him so much. They are going to be so disappointed in him.
• One thing I'm very curious about is that the episode is titled 'heart-shaped box' but while Dutch does see one and opens it she doesn't pay it any particular attention, we don't get a good look at what's in it and instead the focus of the episode ends on the red assassin box. But it's the title! So I feel like it has to be really important and I want to know why.
Also I find it interesting that among all the assassin paraphernalia of her safe-house there was the the heart-shaped box, a tiny toy horse and a little ragdoll. I want the backstory on that.
