This episode left me torn. There were a lot of things I loved about it and one thing that made me really unhappy.
• Nooo, not Khylen! D: I am so upset they killed him off. Not only because I love him but also because I just think it was a bad choice. I love his relationship with Dutch and they were only just beginning to enter a new stage of it, Aneela hasn't even shown up yet and there was so much more potential with him. Killing him didn't even add anything to the show. Him sacrificing himself would have had a lot more meaning if his and Dutch's new relationship had more time to grow and change. Plus while we did get some answers we're missing a lot more. Maybe there's a chance that he's not really dead? I feel like I'm reaching, I know I am, but Khylen wasn't just a level Six he was a Hullen.
• "I don't want to step on your toes. This is your operation remember?" - Khylen. Dutch/Khylen were a lot of fun on their op. I loved him happily watching her kick ass while he casually chatted with the Archive Keeper. I loved his obvious pride and delight in her. I loved him eventually joining in and how easily they fell back into being a team. The fight choreography wasn't good but Ican ignore that for the character stuff.
• D'Avin/Fancy were a goddamn delight. They added a nice jot of humour and fun to the episode. I loved basically every second of their interactions - D'Avin putting Fancy in a headlock and then later locking him out of Lucy, reluctant admiration of each other's fighting, "You're a Six not a ten. Simmer down." (LOL), snarky in tunnels, "Don't worry. I'll tell everyone you died sexy." (hee), human shield (!), D'Avin preferring human asshole Fancy (I don't know Six Fancy is super fun too.) They're the best.
D'Avin: (laughing from behind Fancy as Fancy gets shot)
Fancy: Stop enjoying this!
D'Avin: Too late! (shoots back at the guards) Human shield bitches!
• I actually loved the Johnny/Delle Seyah confrontation and the fact that he shot her. I think it was a direction - revenge for Pawter - that Johnny needed to go and hope it goes somewhere interesting.
• At first I was also super upset about Johnny shooting Delle Seyah because I adore her but not only did she not die immediately from her gunshot wound but the last shot we have of her is her smiling. So I think there is a very good chance of her surviving.
• I loved that Dutch/Johnny scene at the beginning with Dutch saying back the words Johnny said to her in the pilot.
• I loved the Dutch/Johnny scene at the end where Johnny tells her that "you don't have to forgive someone to miss them or have permission to love someone you hate". It was lovely.
• The Johnny/Pree exchange at the bar and their shared goodbye to Pawter with a drink was genuinely lovely.
• I loved Lucy confronting Johnny about leaving and their talk and the fact that she'd already called Clara to be his wingman long before. I love that part of her reasoning was because Clara has a gun arm. I liked them taking Khylen's ship.
• "We need to work on your codenames." - Lucy. LOL. She was fabulous this ep. I also loved her complaining about Fancy getting the black blood everywhere.
• Johnny leaving without Dutch and D'Avin makes me ): Didn't we just do this with Pawter? The team is everything! And after that lovely scene between Johnny/Dutch where she tells him she will call shotgun and will leave with him. Bad Johnny.
• Post-Pawter death I was expecting Johnny to be overcome with fury and grief and instead he seemed pretty much as normal for most of the episode. There was the moment when he first woke up and a few bits here and there but overall his reaction was pretty low-key.
• I am so glad that Fancy survived and that it appears that he'll be joining Team Dutch in taking down Aneela.
• "Dutch will be fine. She has Khylen." - Johnny. This line stuck out to me. How things have changed.
• Aneela has a fabulous sense of style.
• I love the way Black Root talk to Khylen. That one poor Six's "Sir. Really?" amused me a lot. The backstory we got explains it a lot.
Overall this season has been great and I'm really glad the show has been renewed.
