Episode 12 ‘All Dead’s Attack’
• It was interesting to get the prospective of the astronauts on the international space station. Those poor people – they get to watch on high as the world ends, communication from the planet basically cut off and them not knowing what exactly is happening at any small level and unable to do anything to help, never learning the fate of their loved ones and destined to die in space eventually.
• I loved Saya figuring out exact what happened with the nuke. So was the nuke meant to hit land or was it always supposed to explode in the upper atmosphere and act as an EMP? The latter is actually even stupider then trying to nuke somewhere since all it does is make it more difficult for humans to survive while doing exactly nothing to the zombies. What exactly is the point? If the EMP wasn’t what they were trying to accomplish then where were they aiming? Tokyo?
• I thought Shido would have played a larger role. When he showed up at the mansion I thought perhaps we’d see him causing trouble by taking advantage of the divide between the Takagi’s and the people they were protecting and trying to take over with his creepy cult thing. Instead he came, gave Rei a chance to prove herself a better person and then was banished. Then in this episode he ends up crashing the bus into a barrier and that’s the last we see him. I suppose he could have survived and will pop up again at a later date.
• “What kind of man are you?” Obviously the smart one? I mean the gates to the house complex, and a bunch of other guards, are not too far behind them. The smart thing would be to run back there to warn them so they can try to fortify against the zombies and not say, stand there shooting until you’re overwhelmed and get eaten.
• Arisu as Hirano’s assistant is cute.
• Why wouldn’t the mechanic Mad go with them? It makes no sense especially since the vehicle is probably in bad shape and there was nothing he could do by staying behind. His decision would make more sense if he’d been bitten but as is it comes off as just because TPTB didn’t want him to join their group. Which is a stupid reason.
• I find myself so fascinated by Saya’s parents and I want to know more about them and their relationship. It seems unlikely but I wish that they’d survive so we can see them again. Souichirou looking away when the gang’s vehicle drove past really got to me for some reason. I just loved that moment. I also loved that there was no question about Yuriko getting weapons and that the last time we see them it’s with them standing back to back fighting zombies, content that their daughter has escaped with friends who loved her and would protect her.
• I can’t freaking believe Rei never got to shoot her gun.
• Tying in to the above point somewhat - why in the hell is Saeko up on the roof of the humvee with her sword beside the guys and their guns instead of Rei with her gun? That makes no sense! They’re clearly up there to play sentry and take out any zombies that might prove a danger. Saeko has a sword, which is a close quarters weapon, and she’d need to get off the vehicle in order to use it. She has no purpose being up there instead of Rei.
