The Last Children of Krypton

Another really great episode.

A list of things I loved:

• Supergirl and Superman saving the day together and having a lot of fun doing it.

"See, now, if the bullets don't work, right. Why the punching? I've never understood that." - Superman. No one does Clark, no one does.

• Kara skipping to Superman's side after knocking down the bad guy.

• Kara's 'wooohoooo, haha' over the speaker. ♥

• Kara's expression when Cat was musing on Clark's ass - lol. Delightful. (Both parts.)

• I loved the shot of Superman picking up injured Supergirl.

"Oh, Superman and Martian Manhunter are going to fight this is terrible. ... This is awesome." - Winn. Heh.

"You are smart and talented and astonishing." - Cat. ♥ I love Cat/Kara so much.

"I can't imagine being here without you." - Kara. I love how emotional both of them got. Cat had tears in her eyes! She had trouble talking. "You will rise to the occassion." I love so much Cat pushing and supporting Kara till the end. Kara hugging her and Cat hugging her back was the best. I love that Cat didn't just accept Kara's hug, she embraced her back tightly.

I'm having a hard time imagining the show without Cat too. I don't want to. From what I watched of season one Cat and Kara/Cat were two of my very favourite things about the show. I'm so sad she's leaving. That said the show has done a much better job setting up this necessary in-show change than they did the unnecessary Kara/James break-up so I'm happy about that. Plus it is left open for Cat to make random return appearances which is nice.

• The Alex/Kara 'fight' worked for me for the most part. I thought both of their points of view where understandable. Alex feeling abandoned by Kara over Kara's infatuation with Clark and anger at Kara wanting to leave worked well. Alex has been there for Kara and devoted her life to protecting her so feeling abandoned and being angry about that - of course. On the negative, her bringing up her father's disappearance with implied blame on Kara was a low blow and her complaint about how she devoted her life to Kara also didn't work entirely for me because that was a choice Alex made, not something Kara asked for.

Kara's side also makes sense to me. Most important: "This is about me not feeling alone any more. When I'm with Clark I feel like I'm connected to somebody who actually understands what it's like to be me." Kara's home and species were destroyed and that has left a big hole and a lot of anger and grief in her. That she feels a connection to Clark and wants to hold onto it and build that as much as she can makes perfect sense. I can see how that would feel like a slap in the face to Alex and to their bond but I really didn't take it like that. I also thought her wanting to run away made sense considering how her personal life was in upheaval. On the negative, she wasn't really taking into account Alex's feelings or anyone else.

• I liked Winn's line to Alex about how family isn't about score-keeping or owing people.

• Alex kicking ass at the warehouse and threatening the Cadamus boss was great.

• The other big thing I loved about season one was the Alex/Kara relationship and they were great here. I loved their make up scene. "You're the only reason I've ever felt at home on this planet." and Alex's "I'm here. Always."

• Winn interrupting J'onn's praise - LOL. And then tearing up when Superman tells him he loves it.

• The Supergirl/Cat goodbye was lovely.

"Jerk, guy." LOL, oh Kara.

• Superman/Supergirl's goodbye was lovely too. I loved them telling each other "I love you", (Kal!) and Clark texting Kara as soon as he got to Metropolis to tell her that he 'missed her already'.

• The conversations between Clark and Perry White amusED me so very much. "A jiffy is a unit of measurement, sir." Hee. He said that so perfectly. 100% Clark Kent. I really want a Superman spin-off now.

And a negative:

• I didn't like how little James was in the episode and the fact that we didn't get a James/Clark scene before Clark left. I'm a little worried that the show doesn't know what to do with James at this point because... they don't really seem to be doing anything with him. Why was he so absent this episode? Why aren't they giving us his point of view at all? His best friend Clark being there would have been the perfect opportunity. Why would Cat name him to lead her company? Okay, it makes no sense but whatever, if it'll give him something to do I'm for it.
