The Master's Sun Episode 10 Thoughts
Jan. 5th, 2017 11:27 pmI loved it. This was such a great episode.
• Joong-won/Gong-shil were so great. I love how things played out between them.
- I'm a bit shocked but also delighted by how completely upfront Joong-won is being about his feelings for Gong-shil (I mean mostly not to her but in general.) Going into the episode I figured he'd be in deep denial-land that he felt anything at all for her. Instead he 100% acknowledged to himself that he's in love with her and we get things like: him saying to his 'fiancee' that being near Gong-shil is 'killing him', then immediately turning back to check on how her week without him went and admitting that it was death for him; telling Secretary Kim that she doesn't reside in his head but in another place (ie his heart); his line that wonders why he sees her like a shining sun when he's not a ghost.
- I love Gong-shil shooting down Joong-won's self-assured and arrogant (but also right) assumption that she likes him by asserting that she likes someone else. I love how upset he gets every time she brings that up. Jealous Joong-won is great.
- I love how aggravated he is by her not reacting to anything the way he thought she should/would. I enjoyed her taking apart his offer to be his mistress by going through each of his offers and rejecting them by reason of ghosts.
- Joong-won's love confession was amazing. It took me completely by surprise even after an entire episode of him talking about his feelings.
Joong-won: Fine. I’ll trust you. I’m going to do whatever I want now, and you can handle everything on your own.
Gong-shil: Thank you. I can handle everything.
Joong-won: Is that right? Then start with handling this: Taeyang, it seems that I love you. What are you going to do now?
Oh Joong-won. I love that he leads her into a trap first - getting her reassurance that she can continue to only think of him as a marble statue/safe haven, to use and then leave - before hitting her with his feelings. I actually really love that he's totally aware of his own feelings but he doesn't want them, that he wants to continue to live closed off and only with his head. I'm not sure what he's hoping to accomplish here. That his trust will prove true and she will keep the distance between them while allowing him to give in a little about his feelings? For her to fail and perhaps give himself a push to cutting her out of his life? I'm not sure but I'm so here for this.
• Secretary Kim is the best, as is his continued poking of Joong-won over Gong-shil. I love that Joong-won completely knows what he's doing and yet he can't help but fall for it all the same.
• I love how the fiancee situation played out. The fact that it was all a sham so the fiancee could return to South Korea in order snatch back control of her father's company from her step-mother is the best.
• I loved Joong-won jumping at the opportunity to use the vase to make Gong-shil 'responsible' for the break-up of his engagement. He is the most ridiculous, I love it.
• I enjoyed everything with Kang Woo/Gong-shil as well. I like the situation he's inadvirtantly put himself in where she thinks his interest in her was all a sham and while he does like her she sees him now as a friend she can confide in. I liked his advice to her about trying for another week to get along without Joong-won and his determination to push through his fear of ghosts in order to be there for Gong-shil. I liked him holding on to her as his safe haven and him finally giving her the stuffed animal. They were just really sweet.
• The uncle quietly cheering on both Gong-shil and Joong-won with a little 'fighting' in the background amused me.
