The Master's Sun Episode 14 Thoughts
Jan. 8th, 2017 11:16 pm• Learning that all Gong-shil needed to do to return Joong-won his memories was to give him her sun necklace/talisman certainly puts a different spin on things. I'm really not a fan of people lying to loved ones or keeping them in the dark in order to protect them, it rarely works for me and unfortunately this isn't one of the rare times. Worse in this case because I find it pretty inexcusable of her to keep his memories from him. It would be one thing if she was just breaking up with him to protect him but that's taking a part of him away and that's not her choice to make. Break-up with him, fine, but not this. And definitely don't try to throw away the necklace, good god. When she was going to throw it I was thinking "no, no, no".
• I love that Gong-shil has made such a big change in Joong-won's life that even without his memories he still felt the hole left when she wasn't there. He lost 'something huge' and I love that he couldn't just move on. Basically I've been loving Joong-won without his memories stumbling through his new life and being unable to let go of Gong-shil.
• All the Gong-shil/Joong-won stuff this episode was great (ignoring her lying). The whole 'date' misunderstanding at the restaurant was amusing. Her "Don’t touch me. I don’t like it." stuck out to me as both a complete turn around of her usual behaviour and as an echo of Joong-won in the first episode. I loved him tricking her into seeing him at his office (and his pride/pleasure at being able to text now) and his dismay after she left without turning back. Him going to Mistress Go to buy out Gong-shil's contract even without his memory was lovely.
• Uncle's take on the whole vase/engagement meeting was hilarious and I really liked him telling Joong-won the truth. He has really grown on me over the series. I should probably learn his name.
• "Let's both become amazing people." Aww. I loved Gong-shil and Kang Woo's rooftop talk. They really are sweet together and I like their friendship.
• Yi-ryung and Kang Woo were amusing. I loved him coming right out and saying that she's a terrible actor, lol. I love how he is completely honest with her. I also loved him telling her that she's 'cool' and will do a great job.
• Mystery guy and how he ties into what happened to Gong-shil is an interesting plot point to pull out so late into the show. He knew her, he can see ghosts and he had coffee ghost spying on her, hmm. My best guess is either he was with her during those lost 10 days in the woods and/or he was also in a coma and they met when they were not!ghosts wandering free from their bodies.
