The Good Place Thoughts

iariaI want so badly for this show to be renewed. I love it and I’ll be really bummed if it’s cancelled. It’s genuinely funny and I adore the characters. It’s by far my favourite show of the season and my new calm happy place. It does occasionally hit my embarrassment squick but not too bad.
The finale was amazing. I thought it was forking brilliant and it’s made me super excited about season 2.
+ The twist that they were in the Bad Place already (and Michael was the Architect) was awesome. Loved it. Now I want to go and rewatch the entire show with this in mind. I think the best thing about it is that it makes complete sense in retrospect. (… Eleanor’s house with the clowns that she hates!) In fact it makes everything make even more sense.
The only negative is that I’m a sad by how it changes Michael, who I really liked, and the Eleanor/Michael relationship which was one of my favourites. ...Unless perhaps we get a storyline of Eleanor and the others winning Michael over and having to save him. I’d love that. Maybe the way for them to earn their way into the good place is to save Michael?
+ While I’ll miss good Michael I did enjoy what we saw of bad Michael. Him pushing the plant off the table made me laugh. It reminded me so much of a cat and was adorable. His grin and laugh at being caught was really creepy. I love that you can still 'good' Michael in his personality and that he's not an entirely new character.
+ I love that it was Eleanor who figured it out.
+ I'm fine with the idea of their memories being wiped because I trust the show to do something interesting with it but I hope they get them back at some point (after becoming friends again). They've come so far that it would be a shame for them to lose those memories permanently.
+ I love that these last couple episodes have made it canon that Eleanor is bi and her little moment of ‘huh I think I might have a thing for Tahani’ was awesome.
+ We haven’t gotten as much time with Eleanor and Chidi in the latter half of the season but what we have gotten has been great. I loved their goodbye and I really loved that Eleanor’s rushed note to herself was ‘find Chidi’, aww.
+ That said you’d think she’d quickly add something like ‘it’s all a lie’ or ‘don’t trust Michael’, or similar.
+ I am loving Jason/Janet which was such an unexpected and wacky swerve but one which ended up working so well.
+ I loved that little Eleanor/Jason high five.
