The Blacklist Thoughts
Jan. 21st, 2017 12:02 pm4x10 'The Forecaster' (No. 163)
+ All the Dembe and Red stuff was really interesting. Dembe's dissatisfaction over Kate and Red's current behaviour as well as his overwhelming worry for Red is all great. I loved him scolding Red - “You shouldn’t use her like that, to get what you want. It’s disrespectful. Kate doesn’t deserve it.”
But I'm also torn on those little moments with the cleaners where Dembe's responses implied that he could maybe betray Red. Noooo! That is like the most unlikely thing that could ever happen on this show. Except maybe Red turning away from Liz/no longer being devoted to her. It's just wrong! If Dembe betrays him - D:D:D:
Unless it's in a 'for his own good' ways - such as going to Liz and telling her the truth about Red. I loved that too. I loved his line about Red only caring about Liz and Agnes right now (oh Dembe, Red may not be listening but I'm sure you're on the list too! Poor Dembe)
+ I'm really glad that Liz now knows about Mr. Kaplan and I can't wait to see where things go --- just please please, dear god, not another 'Liz turns away from Red in anger' moment.
+ I loved that scene where the guy asks about their last cleaner and how Dembe replies in short succinct answers all while pensively watching Red. It was a really well done scene.
+ While Dembe probably knows Red best Red showed this episode that he does still care. Yes, he used his revenge for a murdered friend to also hijack a new cleaning crew but it was still revenge, you know?
+ Also - I have to say Liz's whole supportive 'you're giving up a lot' re: Tom's passports made me have a 'seriously' moment. It's not like he was an FBI agent! He was a spy/assassin who lied to get into her life and did terrible things. Also he's the one who keeps saying he wants a normal life!
I also watched the trailer for The Blacklist: Redemption so a couple thoughts.
+ Considering that we now know that Susan Hargrave is Tom's mother, and he knows it, one would think the show would stop with the UST but one would be wrong. Holy crap with that sexy dance and "you know how to push my buttons", uh huh. Okay show.
+ Who is Tom kissing on the desk? It doesn't look like Liz, kind of looks like Susan but I doubt they'd go that far, so... he's undercover presumably? Could it be a flashback? If he's on a mission does this mean that Liz gets to kiss people on missions too? Because I'd totally be up for that.
+ Locke! Locke is going to be on the show, yay.
+ I've remembered that I love Solomon and am really glad that he a) survived, and b) is on the show.
+ I feel like that 'welcome to the family' is a red herring and Tom doesn't actually tell her the truth about their relationship yet. It's going to be about him joining her group.
+ Red has told Liz over and over that Tom isn't who she thinks he is, that he's a terrible and dangerous person, that he shouldn't be in her life and yet the show has them happily married with a daughter and seemingly still firmly together. They've also had other scenes in past seasons (like Red wondering how she could forgive Tom for instance) and it makes me wonder... Are they going to drop all of that and continue with happy family Liz/Tom?
Because the thing about Red is that he's almost never wrong, and he is so against Tom, and yet the show has kind of dropped that whole angle? I mean Red still hates Tom but I can't really remember any recent hints of how doomed they are. So I'm wondering if the spin-off is going to confirm it either way. I feel like perhaps they're setting it up that over the course of Redemption and the latter half of The Blacklist s4 Liz and Tom will be breaking up. The real question I have isn't will they, but if they do will it be because Red's warning have been proven true? Why is Tom still a danger and so terrible for Liz? Why is Tom Keen #7 on The Blacklist? I hope Redemption gives us these answers.
