The Apothecary

Good episode.

+ Oh hell no. Nope. I don't believe it. Dembe would never try to kill Red. Yeah, sure he's been worried about Red and how he's been working lately as well as being angry and upset over Kate. I could perhaps buy that he would quit (not really) or, maaaaybe even fake poison Red to shake him up but there is no way that he would try and kill Red, and there is certainly no way he'd take out a bunch of innocent bystanders in the attempt to take out Red. One of his main issues with Red are all the casualties that are piling up! The attack on Red's business and murders of various close associates and using his own accounts... that's not something Dembe would do. So yeah, I straight up don't believe it and not even in an 'in denial' way. There is something else going on here.

+ Spader was excellent as always and I always love the episodes that focus on him and put Red through the ringer.

+ I love that Red's main concern while dying was finding Dembe and making sure he was okay.

+ I love the when Red woke disoriented he was apparently saying 'Elizabeth'. I like the callback to how Red's first and last thoughts are usually about her. Super sad though that he wasn't actually sure that she would be sad if he died.

+ I liked Liz's care for sick Red at the beginning and I liked that she got choked up/teary-eyed at the end when they weren't sure how he was... but I was also a little disappointed at how mild it seemed. I couldn't help but compare it to previous instances when Red was in danger and she was so much more emotional. It made me a little sad. Has their bond really been damaged that much? I was super disappointed by the fact that we didn't get Liz tracking down unconscious Red or sitting beside his bed when he was unconscious or a scene between them after he wakes up. I was waiting for him to wake up to find Liz there beside and for him to get to see that he does matter to her.

+ Why didn't Liz go with Red? I mean I get why the show didn't have her with him but in show it would have made far more sense considering his condition for her to at least offer to accompany him, while leaving Ressler and Samar to go into the field (as they have for the last couple episodes). Having one less agent investigating wouldn't have hurt the search while going with Red would have been immensely helpful considering he was poisoned and dying. It was just weird.

+ Aram is great. I loved his "No!" when Red told them he was dying, I loved his fruit basket and accompanying nervous/upset ramble, and I loved his concern for Liz.

+ Lulu is either the nicest and most forgiving person or there is something more going on with her. Either she's working for the person behind it all (or is the person behind it) or she's working for Dembe and is there to help/care for Red or she is really an innocent bystander. Not sure which way I'm leaning.

+ I loved the return of some of Red's people - Baz, Marvin, Glen. So nice to see them and their love for Red. It just emphasised the ways Harold was wrong in the last episode - Red isn't actually alone, and despite this Dembe nonsense which will be revealed to be false he doesn't always get betrayed.

+ This was one of the creepiest and most disturbing Blacklisters ever. Ugh.
