The 100 4x11 Thoughts

... It was okay. It didn't work for me in a bunch of ways.
Becca's Island
+ YES, Raven is going to survive! There is no way they would have her figure out a way to fix her brain, have her decide she wants to survive and have it succeed only to kill her episodes later. This is a big relief! Raven is so awesome. I loved her entire storyline.
+ "You're always with me." I loved getting to see Sinclair again and I'm so happy that it was him acting as the angel on Raven's shoulder convincing her to live. Raven's goodbye to him was so lovely.
+ Raven waking up to discover that Sinclair tied up Becca - lol. Funniest moment of the ep and possibly the season.
Arkadia
+ I was absolutely expecting Jasper to die this season and to be honest half hoping he would but his death hit me a lot harder than I was expecting. Jasper and Monty's last scene was heartbreaking and just crushing. Jasper telling Monty to say 'I love you' and then Monty brokenly repeating it over and over after Jasper died made me cry. I feel so horrible for Monty and the fact that he had to watch Jasper died and that he couldn't do anything to save him.
+ I was a disappointed with how things played out at Arkadia. I read speculation that perhaps Jasper would die saving other people - maybe by giving up his spot on the rover to someone else who wanted to survive - and ever since I read that I thought it would be the perfect conclusion to Jasper's arc. What actually happened, while believable and well-done, was... dark and depressing and Jasper giving into his darkness was a really sad end for the character. In fact for me in a way this is the worst death on the show even if he's one of my least favourite characters.
+ Not a fan of Jasper's reaction to Riley's death. I think it should have been a turn around for him but at the very least it shouldn't have been him figuring out how to kill everyone quicker. That really solidified the whole cult leader feel that he's had in the last couple episodes.
+ Harper and her place in the episode didn't work that well for me either. Monty going immediately from Jasper's death to running to find Harper made sense but emotionally didn't work. I feel like those two actions should have been separated. We didn't get much of a look into Harper's head so going from her being cruel to Monty to protect him and breaking down about it to her running into Monty's arms at the end and telling him that she loves him felt - off for me? idk. I think I'd have liked it better if we hadn't gotten the 'be mean to Monty' scene and instead spent that time with her wrestling with Riley's death.
Bunker
+ "Yesterday we were right. Today we have to live with being wrong." - Clarke. I really love this line because Clarke is completely right. Yesterday when Luna had the greatest chance of winning and preventing (supposedly) anyone from entering the bunker, taking it and making sure humanity survived was perhaps the morally correct choice. If Luna had won (and somehow stopped the bunker from being opened) them having taking it would have proved to be the right decision. But Luna didn't win, they were wrong and they are in the wrong.
+ Clarke's expression when Octavia said she'd decided to do exactly what Clarke had wanted all along was fabulous. You can see it spreading across her face that she destroyed exactly what she wanted. The fact that she says nothing during the ensuing confrontation says it all. You could see how torn and ashamed and horrified she was.
+ There are only 400 Skaikru. That means that out of fear they were letting 800 people that could be saved die. That's insane and unconscionable. I wish there had more discussion about this. Clarke's talk with Niylah gave a little insight into why she didn't want to open the door but it didn't really work for me?
+ I found Clarke and Bellamy's confrontation at the door... not enough? IDK, I wish they'd given more time to the confrontation and that the debate between them over what was the right choice had been longer and more involved. I think if we'd had Clarke actually go into the boiler room to talk to Bellamy this would have all worked a lot better for me even though I actually loved that she couldn't.
+ I loved Clarke bring in Murphy to watch over Bellamy. I loved his expression when Clarke couldn't bring herself to talk to Bellamy and the Bellamy/Murphy scene was really well done. I loved Murphy's quite "you're wrong" when Bellamy accused him of only caring for himself.
+ I loved Bellamy purposefully hurting himself so that Abby would be brought in knowing that she had just as much reason to want to open the door. I love him using Murphy's knowledge of him - that he would absolutely fight to bleeding to save Octavia - against him. Clever Bellamy is great and Bellamy/Abby teaming up was great.
+ I liked the Niylah/Clarke scene. I liked her gentle rebuke of Clarke and then comforting her with cuddling and listening. That said I really would have expected Niylah to have more of a reaction to Clarke's decision.
+ I'm glad to know that they did send someone to save Kane and Octavia too.
+ I can't believe that there was no Abby/Clarke scene/confrontation. How??!
+ I'm really frustrated with the show's use of Miller this season. They keep putting him into these really complicated and interesting situations and then shoving him in the background and not giving us any look into his POV. It made no sense for us not to get some of his POV during the Island scenes and his decision to support the Mount Weather-esque choice to experiment on people. And now we get him choosing to support Clarke/Jaha in keeping the bunker locked to the point that he shock-lashes Bellamy but nothing about why he chose that path or how he felt about it.
I can absolutely believe that it is a choice he would make. Miller has a good sense of right and wrong but at his core he is super pragmatic. I think he's a lot like Clarke actually. He was the one her urged her into the dropship and abandoning Bellamy/Finn/anyone left out. He was on the side of leaving the slaves at Farm Station. He agreed to the Island experiments. So I can see him siding with Clarke for the exact same reasons she made her choice - the greater good prevails. But we didn't get to see it and that annoys me so much.
+ I'm annoyed with Octavia. She's not wrong in her decision or what she said to Jaha and I understand her peaceing-out from the list making considering she doesn't really consider herself Skaikru and never has but despite all the logical reasons behind it Octavia leaving the others to make the list feels like her dodging having to make hard choices. She always leaves the actual decision making and follow-through for other people and just as often gives them shit for the choices they made. So her not taking part in actively helping to choose who would survive and who would die... annoys me. Once again she's not forced to make the hard choices.
+ So what about Niylah and Emori then? Because I don't image that they would be on most Skaikru's list of their people so are they shit out of luck then? Add Murphy to that list too because while he may be Skaikru he would never be on most people's list and he would never leave Emori. I am so damn worried for these three.
