NCIS and Nikita Thoughts
Oct. 8th, 2010 08:36 pmHuge was cancelled. It’s sad. I didn’t love it like some other cancelled shows (*sniff* Terminator still hurts) but it was a great show that I really enjoyed. It had a lot of depth and dealt with the issue of weight, along with other issues like sexuality and growing up, in a really mature and accepting way that seems really rare. It felt like a very unique and honest look at being a teenager and issues that everyone faces and I’m sad it’s gone.
NCIS 8x03 ‘Short Fuse’
• This episode was very Gibbs/Fornell shippy. I found myself wondering if the TPTB are shipping them now too. I mean Fornell made Gibbs a pasta dinner! He used his grandmother’s recipe, smacked Gibbs finger with the spoon, stated he wanted to ‘curry’ favour, told Gibbs to wash up and let him into Gibbs house several times! They were ridiculously domestic this episode. I love how excited Gibbs was about the pasta dinner. Also I continue to like the mention of their shared ex-wife. They’re not really a pairing I look for but I love watching them play the Odd Couple in episodes.
• I knew how the Tony subplot was going to end as soon as the photographer took pictures of Gibbs but even without that moment I would have known that Tony wouldn’t get to be on the recruitment pamphlet. I liked that he was right throughout the episode about what was going on because it offset him being a fool over the pamphlet plotline some. I prefer goofy but competent Tony over goofy idiot Tony.
• I was glad to hear that charges were being considered against Sgt. Dempsey because if there weren’t any consequences it would be far too unbelievable regardless of the fact that the bomb wasn’t real. Despite the reason for her actions she did kidnap and basically torture a guy for a couple days (forcing someone to stay in the same position for days for fear of their life is torture) and there should be at least talk of consequences for it.
Nikita 1x05 ‘The Guardian’
• Division is very unprofessional – first Michael confronting Percy and arguing with him in front of all the recruits and then the random guy telling Michael that Nikita was on the phone in front of everyone (though to be far that second one is just me being nitpicky, Michael did ask). But for the first point it made me shake my head. Having that training space right in the middle of operations/the centre of Division has never seemed like more of a PTB contrivance.
• Judging from the reactions of the various recruits training they’ve heard Nikita’s name before. I really want to know what they know about her. An episode devoted to following a no-name recruit (or say Jaden) and getting their POV would be really neat.
• I liked Michael’s reaction to Percy saying ‘your boyfriend’ or rather that he had a reaction. I prefer him to have reactions like this, small and personal, to him saving her life like in the previous episode.
• I like Owen and it should be interesting for Nikita to have a Division trained ally like him though I don’t know that they could keep him long term. It feels like if he was permanent it would sort of defeat the purpose of the show? I was expecting him to have died from his gunshot. I’m curious about how Nikita got him out of Canada and back to her loft.
• Alex really earned her pay, so to speak, this episode. I really liked her slipping part of the earpiece into his pocket though I don’t know how that would be explained when he found it.
• The ease with which Alex got into Percy’s office was a bit much – you’d think he’d have better security than that.
