The Doctor Falls

It was really great. I loved it.

+ I loved Bill's fate. Immortal, all-powerful, travelling space and time with her girlfriend, yay! I didn't think they would kill her off but I wasn't sure how she could come back from becoming a cyberman so the show tying everything back to her first episode was a great twist. I loved that they brought back Heather, how Bill's tears have always been tied to Heather and Heather changing Bill into the same water creature she is in order to save her. What I particularly loved was that it was all about letting Bill chose her own future. Her fate was her choice. Right now that choice is to explore the universe with Heather which is great but the possibility of becoming human and/or travelling with the Doctor again was left very open.

+ I love that by giving the Doctor her tears we know that Bill will be able to keep track of the Doctor and watch over him. Hopefully this means that at some later date when the Doctor is crying because everything has gone wrong again Bill will pop up to save the day and go on adventures with him again.

+ I really loved how they shot Cyber!Bill with us mostly seeing her as the human she still saw herself as so that the shots of her as a Cyberman packed a punch. I thought the episode did a good job of showing Bill's struggle to accept what had been done to her and her horror over it.

+ "I do what I do because it's right. Because it's decent. Because, above all else, it's kind. ♥ Oh Doctor. That was a lovely speech.

+ I loved everything with the Doctor and the two Masters. That opening scene between the three of them was so fun. Doctor/Missy in particular were wonderful and this was a perfect end to the story between these two versions of them.

"Stand with me. It's all I've ever wanted." - Doctor
"Me too." - Missy

I'm super sad that the Doctor doesn't know that he was right about Missy. That she had changed. I don't think it was her choosing the right thing, the kind thing, but she was absolutely on that path! In the end she chose him. She was going back for him!

I did think it was rather lovely how Missy's face-heel turn of choosing the Doctor and subsequent 'death' was done 'without hope, without witness, and without reward.' In a way they all embodied that in the end.

One thing I loved with the Doctor and Missy was the reoccurring emotional hand holding moments and how emotional wrought and meaningful it was every time.

+ I loved all the Master/Missy interactions. They were amazing and everything I could have wanted. Simm!Master being turned on by Missy throwing him against a wall and being intimidating and saving their asses was delightful. Yay, for dancing. I loved their final scene.

+ When the Master said in the last episode that they would never kill each other I should have known that that is exactly how it would end. Of course the Master teaming up with themselves would end with the two of them literally stabbing each other in the back. On one hand I rather love it and how that scene played out between them was wonderful, but on the other hand I don't know that I entirely buy Simm!Master killing himself off in a permanent way. Granted that version of him is pretty crazy but still.

Also I don't buy the Master being dead permanently. Missy may have had no memory when she first stepped foot on the ship but we saw that she could still change things. If she could change her past from her present by materialising a dematerialization circuit then I'm sure she did something that lead to her saving herself. She knows herself. She literally just stabbed herself in the back so I can't believe that she would turn her back like that if she didn't have some fail safe. No, she had already done something to save herself. I'm just hoping that whatever it was means more Missy and not a new regeneration because I really love this current version of the Master.

+ I was disappointed we didn't get more between Simm!Master and Bill. There was really only one scene between them with him being cruel to her and her not letting her hurt show and robbing him of any satisfaction which I liked but I wanted more. They lived together for 10 years!

+ Nardole was great and I'm going to miss him if we never see him again. I thought his goodbye to the Doctor and Bill was lovely.

+ The montage of all the Doctor's recent Companions calling out 'Doctor!' was lovely and it was great to see them again. Rory not being in it was dumb since he was a main Companion, Vastra/Jenny being in it surprised me but I liked it and I was not surprised by the lack of Mickey but it did disappoint me.

+ I loved that Bill saved the Doctor several times and that shot of Cyber!Bill princess carrying an unconscious Doctor was great.

+ The Doctor 'doesn't like guns' so he gives Alit an apple bomb??
