Killjoys 3x04 & 3x05 Thoughts
Jul. 31st, 2017 05:16 pm3x04 'The Lion, The Witch and the Warlord'
It was okay.
+ It was great to get so much Pree. He was lovely and I liked his backstory. His interactions with Dutch are wonderful as always.
+ I loved the return of Gared. I mostly remember him from the episode where Pawter, Dutch and Pree all kicked his ass so this was unexpected. Pree/Gared is surprisingly great.
+ D'Avin and Gared bonding over 'dudes' and how they don't get them, ha.
+ "Dutch! I choose Dutch! Sorry, pumpkin." - Pree. Heh.
+ While I'm glad that Dutch and Johnny finally got a chance to do some talking about their issues 'locked up by a warlord and given truth serum' was a little contrived and nonsensical. But them making up was nice and I loved Johnny's comeback that he wanted space not space from her.
+ I can't remember if we've seen that Killjoy before but he was rather fun. He wasn't wrong that he was just doing his job and he wasn't cruel or excessively violent in capturing Johnny either. His "upsidedowney" to D'avin's "how you doing" made me lol and I liked his snarkiness and competence. I hope we see him again
3x05 'Attack the Rack'
Eh, okay. I had some issues with the direction this episode went.
+ I'm 100% not behind Dutch and her 'kill everyone' plan, just WTH? Johnny went and marked the locations of all the pools, they know how to destroy them and they know that Hullen can be saved/made human again! Why the hell would they go on a killing spree of people who were very possibly forced into being hosts and who can be saved? It's never even discussed! And I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to see what she's doing as wrong or right. The fact that this episode brought back Fancy, former Hullen, with a storyline about loyalties and had Dutch accidentally murder Banyon because of how she's approaching the situation makes me think that we are supposed to see all the problems with it but I'm not sure. I really hope this is going somewhere and is addressed.
+ I also found everyone's naivety in thinking only Hullen could be a danger to them and their plans perplexing. I didn't see McCavoy's betrayal coming but it wasn't that surprising. I think a lot of people would give up a lot for the promise of immortality/invulnerability.
+ I'm sad and disappointed that Banyon died. I haven't had much opinion of her thus far so of course just as I become interested in her she dies. I would much rather have had her joining the revolution especially considering the fact that she has been suspicious of Level 6 and doing her own investigations for years. Her being killed off like this annoys me.
+ Dutch, Johnny and D'Avin's silent communication and working together to help Dutch escape the trap was excellent.
+ The Dutch/Johnny moment before they set off the bomb was great. I loved Dutch kissing Johnny's hand and I like that they did it together.
+ I'm enjoying Delle Seyah playing her power games with the Hullen though I'm worried that she's bitten off more than she can chew here. But I'm here for Delle Seyah/Aneela.
+ I appreciated Turin's apology but Fancy was 100% valid in his anger over his betrayal. Poor Fancy. I really wish one of Team Awesome Force had gone after him when he left the bar.
