Wynonna Earp 2x02 & 2x03 Thoughts
Aug. 21st, 2017 11:49 pm2x02 'Shed Your Skin'
Good episode.
+ I love Wynonna defending Waverly's competence - her offended 'hey' when Lucado says Waverly is there to make coffee and "not always" when Beverly says "it always comes down to the big sister".
+ Wynonna slapping Waverly's ass, ha.
+ I continue to love the show's exploration of Wynonna and Waverly's differing reactions to Willa's death. I loved the cut from Wynonna sadly touching the photo of the three sister to Waverly's slightly bitter response to Nicole complimenting a different photo from the same day ("the one I'm cut out of").
+ I really liked Waverly opening up to Nicole. She just learned this big scary thing and even though things were tense between them she still turned to her. I also liked Nicole offering to help Waverly figure out the truth. They are so sweet together.
+ Doc is absolutely trying to synthesise Dolls' serum, right? He has to be and I love the idea so much. Him keeping it a secret from Wynonna for no good reason on the other hand is annoying.
+ Are there no other rooms upstairs at the Earp house? Waverly has now taken over Willa's old room but the girls had to have had their own rooms not to mention their dad's room. It's really weird that we've never seen them.
+ "We really let the boss down." Aw, poor Wynonna. I love how much of a presence both Dolls and Willa had even though they were both gone. I felt pretty bad for Wynonna all ep particularly at the end when she tried to open up to both Doc and Waverly and found herself shut down both times.
+ Jeremy is great. I love his crush on Doc.
2x03 'Gonna Getcha Good'
+ I love how Doc's main purpose right now is about saving Dolls. He protests to Wynonna that he's not doing it for Dolls but I think he is just a little bit. He thinks Dolls got the shittiest deal and absolutely respects him. Seriously I really do appreciate how this love triangle is developing all sides of it.
+ "I want you at peak Wynonna - whisky-soaked and reckless." - Waverly. Heh.
+ I love that Neadley has always known about the demons, has been playing the long game, and that he's chosen Nicole as his successor. I love so much the idea that 'mundane' Nicole and Neadley doing their own part in dealing with demons parallel to 'the heroes'.
+ It's too bad about Mercedes. Wynonna really needs a friend who is outside of her fight but who is also in the know. Mercedes was also perfect because she was an old friend who knew Wynonna as a wild teen. They had a similar attitude and it was fun to watch. I really loved how much she admired Wynonna.
+ Nicole's reaction to Waverly's dance was great.
+ I liked Wynonna calling herself on being a "superficial ass" about Rosita but I could have done without all those bitchy jealous asides and name-calling. So not necessary.
+ I'm also glad that Doc spilled his secret to Wynonna so quickly but still call bullshit on it being kept secret in the first place and on the fact that Dolls wanted her kept out of the loop, what even?
