Wynonna Earp 2x04 & 2x05 Thoughts

iaria2x04 'She Ain't Right'
+ Doc/Dolls were a delight. Friendly banter, no jealousy over Wynonna, Dolls teasing Doc. Regardless of what he said in the last episode Doc cares for Dolls so much and this episode was all about showing that - Doc tucking him in, the touching, the worry, the "He will survive this. He must."
+ Wynonna/Dolls were also great. I loved her reassuring Dolls that she'll be there even if he turned into a lizard.
+ I hope Dolls gets to keep his breathing fire ability. That's fun and I love how cool Wynonna found it.
+ I loved Doc getting a new hat during the shoot out.
+ Wynonna's reaction when possessed Waverly leaned in to kiss her was... interesting. She closes her eyes and doesn't move which is a different choice.
+ Mercedes and Beth's fate, the fact that their heads were skinned and they are still alive is unbelievably horrifying. Why are they still alive?!
+ There were several times when Wynonna could have taken out the demon guy. Why didn't she shoot him after Wynonna kicked him for instance?
2x05 'Let's Pretend We're Strangers'
Meh.
+ I did love Waverly forcing the demon back into her so that she could free Wynonna because she trusts her sister to save her just that much. The sisters were wonderful as always.
+ Possessed Wynonna was pretty fun.
+ I like that Doc figured out that Wynonna was possessed.
+ "I can't believe that I ordered you to shoot her." I found it interesting that this is the first thing Waverly says, first thing she says to Nicole, even though she had just knocked her out.
+ Lucado's death didn't work for. Nor the lack of response afterwards regardless of the fact that no one liked her. She felt all over the place this episode. Her taking on half-demon Dolls and not only holding her own but kicking his ass for most of the fight was a head-scratcher. Where did this fighting ability and strength come from and why have we never seen it? The fight itself might have been great but I was too distracted wondering how and what the hell to notice.
Then we got Dolls and her being in sync over Mictian which I actually loved. We know they have a history and watching them fall immediately back into working as a team when an old enemy shows up was kind of cool and worked for me. It hinted at depths in the character and I thought it was going to be a beginning and then instead she gets her head blown off. ... what? I don't understand that reaction to her fighting the possession. If she had some sort of fail-safe against possession, especially considering she's run into this demon before, than sure I'd buy it. But that's not the explanation we got so I'm left annoyed. Honestly there is a lot I'm annoyed about with her storyline.
+ Actually this is a problem the show keeps having for me - they bring on characters and then kill them without ever really using them to their full potential, often in pointless ways and usually completely unnecessarily.
+ The Fraternal Order also didn't work for me. The idea that they've been around the entire time, even if they only went after Travellers which isn't made clear, and Wynonna has never run into them nor has Waverly ever found any mention of them in her research? Bullshit. Also why wouldn't they have worked with the Heir? It was nice to see Brendan Fehr again.
