Teen Wolf Season 6 Thoughts
Sep. 7th, 2017 10:01 pmI wasn't actually planning on watching season 6 of Teen Wolf even though I have 11 episodes taped at this point. But before deleting them I decided to look up what's been happening this season and specifically when Derek shows back up and I ended up intrigued by the idea of everyone forgetting and trying to remember Stiles.
A couple thoughts:
+ "Kidnap her!" / "Don’t kidnap her." Hee. Malia and Scott's advice scene with Liam in 6x03 amused me. He would have done so much better if he had taken Malia's advice.
+ Don't care at all about Liam and his group.
+ There's been too much focus on Lydia in the whole Stiles situation and I wish they'd distributed it between her, Scott and Malia more. Especially Scott. I also wish she'd be less weepy scared and more determined 'fuck everything' about her Stiles theory though her reaction isn't unbelievable. I like what they've done with the sheriff.
+ The Chris/Malia scene about control was nice.
+ I honestly really enjoyed 6x05 'Radio Silence' aka the Stiles/Peter episode. The Stiles/Peter interactions were so great. I loved them working together to try and get out, Peter saving Stiles and Peter getting a little mini-redemption arc of a sort. I felt so bad for him when he was spit out all burnt up though I love that he brought Stiles's keys. I liked the Beacon Hills side of the story as well with them focused on the jeep. Scott/Lydia making contact with Stiles at the end was great. Overall, it was a pretty good episode.
+ "I like your plan, Scott, I really do especially the part about turning Stiles." - Peter. Heh.
+ I was absolutely expecting Peter to return to save Malia but I still really loved that he did.
+ The sheriff's last scene with Claudia was so sad and really well done.
+ I wish the parents had more of a role in the main storyline.
+ "I don't think anyone had the connection you two had." ...Meh. It's probably just because I don't ship them but I'm not buying it. Not over Scott/Stiles. Why wasn't the sheriff aka Stiles father there to help with the memories? That said Lydia being the one to make the connection to make the portal because she was the last one to see him before he was erased makes complete sense and worked well.
+ Stiles entrance back into the real world was great. Very Stiles. I love that he immediately had a plan to deal with Parrish. Having him back really just makes you realise how much the show lacks from his absence.
+ "Do you want to split up?" / "Never again." ♥ Stiles/Scott reunion was great. Loved the hug.
+ "Where do you get this implausible optimism?" / "Definitely not my father." Heh. I liked his 'eh fair enough' reaction. I loved his genuine concern when Malia got injured. But rather than him saving her while the girls watched it would have been nicer to see Malia and Peter fighting back to back. I did love that this time when he told her to run she refused and came back for him.
+ You know as soon as they realised that the ghost rider might be afraid/cautious/in awe/whatever of banshees Lydia should have maybe tried her banshee scream on one?
+ I kind of love that while they managed to save Beacon Hills from the ghost riders they had to do it by diverting the train not destroying it. Sucks for the next town it goes to.
+ If Riders of the Storm was the last episode it would have been a pretty good close to the show with Stiles/Scott driving off together. I liked Stiles giving Scott his jeep/keys and then them purposefully choosing not to investigate the body in the woods as they drive away.
I considered watching 6B since I didn't dislike and even enjoyed some of 6A. I watched the first episode which was also okay. There were even moments I enjoyed - like despondent Liam getting ready for lacrosse by Mason/Corey which was amusing. But reading the summaries on wikipedia left me feeling really meh whereas the idea behind 6A intrigued me. Everyone being made afraid and turning on the supernatural is actually an interesting idea but still meh. And honestly I'm just not that into it? I could spend a further 5+ hours watching but why? I'll watch once Stiles/Derek arrive... so probably the finale.
