The Persistence of Memory

• I love the Daphne/Bay and Regina/Kathryn relationships. Things are tense between them (especially the moms) but both pairs are working towards understanding each other and friendship. I loved Daphne opening up to Bay and Bay encouraging her to continue the cooking class. They really do seem to finally be on the path to becoming friends. I loved the Regina/Kathryn storyline. Kathryn not trying to learn sign language is something that has bothered me and Regina’s take down of her was awesome. Still I found Kathryn’s confusion really understandable and I like that neither of them was the ‘bad guy’. I loved their final scene – that Kathryn learned some words and was so self-conscious about it and the way Regina spontaneously hugged her. It was a lovely scene. These two relationships are my favourites.

• I saw hints of Emmett/Bay from the first episode but then Bay hooked up with Ty so I wasn’t expecting it to go anywhere. Now that Ty’s is out of the way it appears that they are going in a Bay/Emmett direction at full speed. I do like their interactions so I’m looking forward to seeing where things go with them. They share a love for art and they just seem to get along really well. I was a little surprised actually by how well they got along. They share a secret now, and with Daphne’s story of how they met, Bay is definitely seeing him in a different light.

“This is the most rocking game of charades ever!” LOL. I was impressed with how well they communicated. It appears that Bay has been learning sign or picking it up (which makes at least one of the Kennish’s to do it). I love how much fun both of them had with trying to communicate and how patient they both were. I thought that Emmett didn’t read lips though?

• Emmett’s rather awesome, isn’t he? I loved the story about him defending Daphne and then taking her home with him. The way he was helping Bay was really nice.

• I found it very strange that Daphne was at Buckner Hall and we didn’t see Liam once. Yes, she broke up with him (reluctantly which he knows) but I still found it odd that he didn’t bother to say hi or to see if she needed help. Or that they never ran into each other or saw each other across a room and were all long gazes and angst.

• We got an explanation in the first episode for why the Kennish’s never questioned Bay’s colouring – Kathryn’s Italian family – but nothing to explain why Regina never suspected. I’ve been assuming that Regina’s ex was red-haired white guy thus explaining why she never thought it was strange that Daphne looked nothing like her. But the name Angelo Sorrentos does not sound like someone with red hair. How did she explain to herself Daphne's fair colouring?

• Wait, Daphne was eight when she learned sign language?! I guess this could explain why Regina is so defensive.
