Grey's Anatomy 14x01 & 14x02 Thoughts

iariaIt's been a long, long time since I watched a full episode of this show but I've been watching clips on YouTube on and off for years and then last season I found myself keeping up with show for the entire season so I decided to check out the premiere and I enjoyed it. Enough so that I'm going to keep watching this season.
+ The mention of Cristina and the fact that Meredith reads her articles made me happy.
+ The Meredith/Alex scenes were excellent – I loved him eating her lunch, I love them being there for each other.
+ I liked the Richard/Meredith and Richard/Maggie scenes. I loved Richard comparing Meredith to Ellis and his pride in her. The final scene between Richard and Maggie about Ellis was super sweet and lovely.
+ I loved Meredith telling Jo “If you want to be a shark be a shark. Don’t apologise for it.”
+ I loved Richard defending teaching the sub-Interns to Alex/April and then turning around to complain to Bailey that they’re unteachable.
+ I liked Ben acting as Jo’s Person and how he did it. He was pretty good at it for someone who wasn't sure what to do (and didn't really want to do it.)
+ I liked how Meredith handled everything with Megan and that she got to be a badass.
+ I like Megan. She's funny and interesting and great with Owen. I hope she sticks around for awhile. Weirdly of the the relationships I find myself really interested in how Meredith and Megan go forward.
+ I’m mostly neutral on Meredith/Riggs and think they're are fine together but I hope they aren’t endgame. I'm just not invested in any way and I want to be invested in Meredith's romantic relationship. Hopefully this love triangle situation is handled well.
+ Riggs proposing to Megan made me face-palm a bit. They may have been engaged but she's been gone for ten freaking years! Both of the have changed a lot in that time and giving themselves the time to re-learn who each other is absolutely necessary before moving forward. And that's not even accounting for Meredith. I'm glad Megan at least had some sense.
+ I'm not entirely sure why Meredith was so unwilling to share info with Megan - twice Megan asked her something personal and twice she sidestepped answering. It's not like Megan is a normal patient. I guess because of the Riggs situation she is trying to keep things strictly professional but going to "it's complicated" instead of just saying "(Derek) was my husband" was a little weird. I also wish when Megan had asked about Owen's wives after refusing to pick a favourite (though everyone knows it's Cristina) she had said something like 'his first wife was my best friend Cristina and his current wife is my sister(-in-law) Amelia'. It wouldn't have taken much time but would have worked better for me.
