I’m Alive and On Fire

This was a better episode than last week.

• The Sookie/Eric scenes were excellent.

- “There is no more. You drank the whole fairy. And you’re going to your room.” – Sookie. Like with Claudine’s death this made me go both ‘lol’ and ‘seriously Sookie?’ So absolutely no guilt or upset over Claudine being eaten then? Sigh. And then I was back to LOL when she tells Eric “I’ll tuck you in.”

- Drunk Eric is fun and adorable. Him using his speed to play made me smile.

- The scene at the lake was wonderful. I loved every bit of it.

- Sookie taking care of him, how gentle she was with him, almost motherly was interesting. I like how soft she was with him.

- Eric is really protective of Sookie. We saw that when he hit Pam in the last episode but it just really stuck out in this one. He tells her “I would never harm you” as if that should be obvious. When he sees Alcide standing beside her he immediately goes into fang mode and tells him to stay away from her. Why is he so protective of her? Is it just because she found him and has been nice? Or does her fairy blood draw him to her?

- “I am real!”
“Yes. You are.”

I loved this. I thought it was a really sweet moment. I liked her trying to comfort him.

- Almost kiss! And it was very sweet as well.

“Grow up you giant babies! Alcide stop making that noise. Eric put up those fangs and do what I say.” – Sookie. Loved that.

• Enjoyed the Sookie/Alcide scenes. I like that he came to help her. I loved their final scene. I liked that Sookie didn’t back down on helping Eric and their argument ended in a draw. The hug made me go ‘awww’. I love that they reasserted their status as friends who will be there for each other.

• I do not trust Debbie. I’m betting that she’s going to be the reason Eric is caught by Bill.

• Ack! Poor Pam! So what is she going to do now? Would she go to Bill?

• I actually kind of liked Marnie this episode. She seemed like a well meaning if semi-helpless person. I found her sympathetic.

• Sam remains mostly boring but not irritating. I liked his confrontation with Maxine. I thought he handled her perfectly. His scenes with Luna and her daughter were alright.

• Bill had a really hard day today. Pam road-blocking him, Eric missing, Nan not listening to his warnings, learned his new lover is his many times granddaughter... I can’t believe that he’s never tried to track down his human family before this. Then there was his scene with Sookie which I thought was a well done and by the end I was even feeling sorry for him. He’s going to be pretty heart-broken when he learns she lied.

“Oh, Bill, power’s so hard. ...Don’t fuck this up.” – Nan. LOL

• Jason’s story is still squicky. I’m glad that he got to call what happened to him rape. I was so glad when Becky confessed that she didn’t want to have sex let alone rape Jason and then let him go. I was a little surprised that she didn’t try to escape with him.

• The final Jason scene has me wondering if the show might go in a Jason/Jessica direction. I’ve never considered that pairing before but I could go for it. Despite the last episode I still love Jessica and think she’s awesome, I don’t care for Jessica/Hoyt and Jason desperately needs something good in his life. So, yeah, I could get behind it.

• Terry continues to be awesome and a wonderful dad. I continue to not be interested in the whole evil baby storyline. I’d love if it turned out that Arlene was sleep-walking and wrote on the wall not Mikey. That everything she finds evil and creepy about him is just her projecting and in some cases unknowningly being the cause.
