Grey's Anatomy 14x07 Thoughts
Nov. 10th, 2017 10:21 pmI loved it. It was an emotional and beautiful love letter to the show and these characters. I absolutely love how they managed to make so many lost characters a presence in this episode. So many callbacks and really lovely character moments. It was an excellent 300th episode.
+ Ending with Meredith and Alex back in the intern tunnel of season one sitting to celebrate Meredith's win with Cristina on the phone was so perfect. Back to the beginning. It made me so happy and I wish that even if we can't have Cristina back in person we would get more phone calls and mentions like this. I miss her and I will never believe that Meredith and Cristina aren't keeping in regular contact with each other.
+ Starting the episode with Meredith and Alex on a ferry so Meredith could 'tell' Derek about her Harper Avery nomination was lovely.
+ I love that Cristina's expy wants to 'grow up to be Meredith'. All the love for Meredith was great. I really appreciate how well this ep showcased how much Meredith has changed and grown both as a doctor and as a person.
+ Ellis! Ugh, that moment when Meredith looks up at the galley and sees her mother standing behind her daughter, smiling down on her, proud and happy, killed me. Tears. Absolutely perfect.
+ I loved Meredith's rant at April about how much she wanted to win the Harper Avery and how only Cristina really understands how much she wants it.
+ Bailey and Richard getting all emotional over the George expy was great. That moment when Bailey had to leave the room and have a moment of grief for George (even if she denied it we know better) was the first time I got teary-eyed.
+ I loved Richard and Bailey being all emotional when Meredith won the Harper Avery - the fact that Meredith immediately hugged Richard, Miranda crying. I love their pride in her.
+ Arizona remembering Mark was a nice scene and I loved the close in on the picture of Mark, Callie and Arizona with baby Sophia as Arizona helped their daughter to three different types of ice cream.
+ The Zola/Maggie scene was super lovely and was another moment that made me tear up. Zola telling Maggie she got her smarts from her dad too and that she wanted to be a neurosurgeon like he was was really sadly sweet and I liked her comforting her aunt about Maggie's mom's death.
+ I liked Alex's happy fantasy about what Izzie's life could be like.
+ I liked the mirroring of Derek's accident and Amelia getting the chance to save 'him' by making sure the hero patient got a CT scan.
+ Jackson's speech was beautiful. I love that he brought up not only Ellis and Derek but also Lexie. Everything he said about Meredith so wonderful.
+ I even liked that they got a mention of Burke in there. I like that none of the mentions of past characters felt shoved in or inappropriate to the moment.
+ I unexpectedly found myself shipping Meredith/Jackson. I've always enjoyed their interactions but something about this episode made me go 'hmm'. It's too bad that the show has been flirting with Jackson/Maggie because there is no way I want to go through another one of those sibling love triangles.
