True Blood 3x11 ‘Fresh Blood’
I didn’t really like this episode. In fact I fast-forwarded through much of it. The end of the episode was good but it wasn’t enough to save the episode; beyond that there wasn’t much of anything I liked.
• My favourite scene, and the best, was Eric/Pam – “You know I love you more when you’re cold and heartless.” – the way he gently holds her head between his hands and her almost tear and their smiles and him kissing her on the forehead....! Oh, I love them. Can we watch the Eric/Pam show instead?
• Pam broke my heart as she stood there, her own heart breaking, watching as Eric went up in flames – exactly as Eric was prevented from doing for Godric. I loved that moment.
• I was so happy to learn that there was more beyond Eric’s plan than ‘appease Russell’ though I don’t know how likely I find it that Eric would be able to keep a Russell who was fighting for his life out in the sun. Would the silver handcuffs really be enough?
• I liked the Tara/Andy scene quite a bit and I think it was something that was necessary for both of them. For Tara to move past her anger and need for revenge, for Andy to let go of his guilt and apologise to the person most affected. I hope there is good follow-up from this but I doubt it.
• I liked how Holly being Wiccan and her magic was shown.
• I liked Yvette’s line that back home she had been a cardiologist because so often people in her position (sex industry) are considered stupid and it also ties into the whole immigrant issue where here they don’t speak the language perfectly and work ‘lesser’ menial jobs (at best) and are looked down at but that’s not who they are.
• I didn’t like Pam’s ‘idiot immigrant’ line which didn’t feel like something Pam would say and just did not work for me.
• I didn’t actually watch any of Sam’s downward spiral except for the final Tara/Sam scene, nor did I watch Jason’s scenes except for the Jason/Crystal scenes. Both hit my embarrassment squick and overall I was just not interested.
• Jessica and Hoyt being together does not make me happy though I’m glad that she was truthful with him and stated right out that she was going to be who she was and he could accept that (her) or not.
• Terry/Arlene and Lafayette/Jesus were fine but I’m neutral about them.
White Collar 2x09 ‘Point Blank’
This was a really good episode, very tense and with some excellent character stuff.
• Mozzie being shot made me go ‘noooo, Mozzie!’ but I don’t believe the show will actually kill him. Still – poor Mozzie. Not only was he shot but he also lost someone he considered a friend.
• I loved Neal running the con on the FBI and the whole museum sequence was excellent.
• We definitely need more Elizabeth though I did love her helping Peter pick out his next case and the whole thing with Satchmo having eaten their dinner. They’re all just very cute. I also want her to have more scenes with Neal. When Neal was banished back to his place the second time (post-Fowler) and was silently freaking out I was hoping so much for Elizabeth to show up and for her to just hold him while he broke down. It would have been an excellent way to bring her more into the episode.
• We had a lot of women in this episode (Diana, Alex, El, an brief appearance by June) and yet once again there is no Bechdel Test passing. I was actually hoping that Diana would catch Alex breaking into her house just so we could have two women finally talking to each other.
• It was very nice to see Alex again. I like her so I was pleased that she wasn’t actually a bad guy. Also she has really pretty hair and I loved it on the rooftop scene. I hope we see her again.
• I’d read that Sara Ellis was going to be in six or seven episodes but we haven’t seen her in quite awhile. I really hope we see her when the season picks up again in January.
• Poor Jones, he never gets anything to do anymore.
• I’m not sure I can buy that Neal would get off so lightly from what he did in this episode. I mean he escaped his tracking device and then went after a suspect with a gun! This is serious. Did Peter and Diana cover it up?
