The Odd Couple
I liked it though it was different than I was expecting. Everyone was nicer and cared more than I was expecting.
+ I really liked Oscar. He surprised me because I was expecting something along the lines of Grumpy Old Men with Oscar being a messy, grumpy curmudgeon and he really wasn’t.
+ Felix/Oscar were great. The way the movie kept leaning on them as an old married couple was very classic slashiness. Oscar tells Felix ”I love you almost as much as you do” and he really does. I loved that during the kitchen conversation when Felix took offence at Oscar thinking he talks too much Oscar reassures him that he doesn't mind. I love that when Felix finally goes off he first does a little rant about how wonderful Oscar is and how much he appreciates him. I like how in the end they made each other's lives better.
+ Both men had positive and negative points. I liked Oscar with his laid back attitude and deep caring more and honestly found Felix really annoying at times. All the same I went back and forth on who's side I was on. Oscar really could have called about being late, he should have backed off from pushing Felix into the date, and him losing it after the failed date was over the top. On the other hand, Felix was pretty annoying and needed to back off a lot. I was also really not happy with him guilt tripping Oscar after being kicked out. "Let it be on your head", after his previous suicide attempt? No. That's so wrong of him.
+ I love the poker group and how much they genuinely care about each other.
+ "What am I going to do up there with two girls?" That seems rather unimaginative of him!
