3x06 'If We Make It Through December'
+ "I'd love to. Uh, but my family." Awww, Jeremy.
+ Deputy Charlie is cute and brave and appreciates Wynonna so that's all good but I'm feeling rather ambivalent about him. It does make sense to me that post-Dolls death Wynonna would react by not wanting to admit her feelings for Doc and let him close and that she doesn't feel like she deserves him (aw, Wynonna). Her using Charlie as a shield and no-strings-attached feel good hook-up are absolutely Wynonna things to do. But - eh. His introduction was so abrupt. Mainly though I think I'm still annoyed by Dolls death and how it was handled, by how the writers pulled back on the Wynonna/Dolls relationship and so I'm being grumpy. But at the same time I'm really wondering what the point of Charlie even is.
+ The Doc/Jeremy scene was lovely. I like their friendship and how much Doc cares, and also just the fact that he is so comfortable with Jeremy and the fact that he's gay and how it doesn't matter to Doc.
+ Poor Doc and his sad Christmas tree. I felt bad for him that no one wanted it.
+ Doc, what the hell?
+ The family Christmas stuff was all nice.
3x07 'I Fall to Pieces'
+ I had a couple issues with it but overall Nicole/Wynonna were great. Them getting drunk in a bar with Revenants is always fun and it should be a yearly event. I liked them working together in the fight. I loved their complementing off to the gnome - Wynonna thinks Nicole is "beautiful, annoyingly noble, and great in bed" while Nicole thinks Wynonna is "funny, irrepressible, and goes to the mat for the people she loves". I loved Wynonna intimidating Bunny into making Nicole sheriff. Wynonna/Nicole sharing a drink in the office, also always fun, and Nicole's "I love you too." to Wynonna made me super happy.
This exchange was funny, and really the whole scene was great:
Wynonna: I know a dozen places we can hide the body.
Nicole: She's still alive.
Wynonna: Fine, I'll save them for next time.
On the less positive side this season has mentioned a couple times Nicole/Wynonna's supposed issues and distrust, culminating in this episode of constant fighting, but unfortunately it didn't entirely work for me because I don't really buy the premise itself. Yes, their personalities are opposite and they sometimes disagree and in season one they did have genuine issues with each other. But season 2 was where we saw them bonding and overcoming everything to trust each other in the most serious ways. I'm not sure why we're repeating that here.
+ Wynonna was being annoying and unhelpful at the closest cleaning but no more than usual so Nicole bringing up Dolls and implying that she cared about avenging him more than Wynonna was super out of line. I also thought Nicole was more in the wrong during the kitchen fight because Wynonna was laughing everything off and it was Nicole who escalated the situation. That said I'm a lot more forgiving about that considering how much stress she was under and how unhelpful Wynonna and her usual attitude were being.
+ That ending Wynonna/Doc scene was super painful all around. These two, sigh.
+ "You're like a daughter to me." - Nedley. Awww. I love them making Nedley the one who saved kid Nicole. That whole scene was lovely.
+ I really hope Nedley telling Nicole that he's not going anywhere is because he's going to be sticking around as a reoccurring character and not as foreshadowing of his death.
+ I'm really hoping that we get some nice Waverly/Doc in the following episodes. Wynonna is feeling very done with Doc right now, for understandable reasons, but Waverly is more forgiving and I think she'll want to know why Doc did what he did. We've had a lack of scenes between them lately but they have a nice friendship so it'd be nice to see that come into play.
