Bones 6x01 Review

A pretty good episode overall and I’m glad to have the show back.
• I didn’t like or agree with the blame being aimed at both Brennan and Daisy this episode.
- In the Daisy situation she got a once in a lifetime job opportunity to do something she loved and was excited about. Instead of supporting her (either by going with her, which was entirely possible, or keeping a long-distance relationship) he ended not only their new engagement but also their relationship. Regardless of how many times he or anyone else says Daisy ended it that’s not actually what happened. He could have supported her and he chose not to. I don’t hold him breaking up with her against him (that’s entirely his prerogative) but it wasn’t her ‘fault’ and I do hold him trying to blame her for it against him.
- On the Brennan front there was that exchange between Brennan and Cam where Cam says: “What happened is that you put your own desires ahead of everyone else when you left.” and then she actually says that she blames Brennan for everyone leaving. WTF? It’s ridiculous and so wrong. They may be a made family but it is a job and Brennan was not the only one who left right then. Everyone left including eventually Cam. I’m very irritated with Cam for trying to shame Brennan for doing what would make her happy
• In this episode Cam’s job title is given as ‘Federal Medical Examiner for DC’ which means at some point she also left her job at the Jeffersonian as Head of the Forensic Department. Does this episode mean that she’s leaving her current job to return to her previous one? Considering that the whole point of everyone coming back was to save her job it doesn’t make sense. But considering that they’re all moving back into the Jeffersonian and she appears to still be their boss her continuing as the federal medical examiner also doesn’t make sense to me. Is she doing both jobs? How would that work? I hope this gets addressed.
• At one point Booth advises Sweets to not get back together with Daisy and to “Give yourself a chance to be happy and move on.” He’s obviously projecting but I still wonder why he thinks Sweets couldn’t be happy with Daisy.
• I’m not sure yet what I think of Brennan’s new hairstyle. I kept being distracted by it. I’m not sure that I like it.
• I really hope that Brennan’s desire to return to Indonesia isn’t just dropped. Booth basically ignored it when she stated she’d stay because she felt obligated because he wanted her back so badly but I hope it comes up again and it’s something they have to deal with. I wonder if perhaps this season they will have Brennan accompanying Booth on cases that don’t involve a dead body? I don’t know the how or believability of it but that was sort of the feeling I got.
• I loved everyone immediately coming running when Caroline tells them Cam is in trouble.
• I loved that Angela told Brennan about the baby first. I am a bit worried that there might be a miscarriage storyline in the future because of Angela’s wish to keep it a secret for the first trimester. I really hope not.
• Brennan seemed a bit more obtuse than I remember her being but it could be just because I haven’t watched the show in awhile.
• ‘Squiterns” made me laugh. I think I’d rather a new set of interns instead of bringing back all the old ones for contrived reasons.
• I liked Brennan physically kicking ass. It feels like it’s been a long time.
