Olivia

I loved it. It was a really enjoyable episode and I am so excited that the show is back. I loved the red credits.

• I was definitely not expecting the brainwashing of our Olivia into thinking she was Red Olivia. It could be very interesting watching her slowly figure out the truth but I find that it makes me very uncomfortable. Her losing herself, being unable to stop it, and not even realising that it’s happened is really horrifying. Then to see Red Olivia playing our Olivia and actually playing at being in love with Peter, the two of them clearly a couple, just makes it worse. (The fact that our Olivia will be in a relationship, will sleep with, Red Olivia’s boyfriend also makes it worse. So, so creeped out. The violation of that... when she remembers it’s going to be horrible for her. For Peter too it will be a violation but his situation hits me less hard.) Poor Olivia.

• I wonder how much of Red Olivia will always be a part of our Olivia now? When our Olivia begins to remember herself will she begin to lose or forget Red Olivia too? Or will there always be a part of Red Olivia in her?

• The Peter/Red Olivia scene at the end was rather painful. The kiss, and the smile, and how happy he was were all bad but it was actually the long shot of them walking after Walter, all casually, with his arm around her waist I found most painful. This is so going to screw both Peter and Olivia up. Sigh.

• Olivia was pretty awesome this episode. I loved her escape.

• I hope that we see Henry again and that in some way he plays into helping her escape/remember herself. Like, say her real memories begin to intrude or the new ones breakdown and remembering Henry’s address (it was a point that she memorised it) she turns to him and he takes her in and it’s his explanation on how they know each other and perhaps Peter’s name that begins the process of her remembering.

• I am very intrigued about the fact that neither Charlie nor Lincoln know the truth about Olivia and when that truth comes out it is going to be fascinating to see what happens. I think that when Olivia couldn’t shoot Charlie it was our Olivia making the decision (she couldn’t shoot him again, wouldn’t) and not the Red Olivia brainwash (he’s her teammate and friend).

“You’re a hell of a shot.” – Henry
“No actually I’m not.” – Olivia

This exchange bothered me because, um, actually she is. We have seen over the previous two seasons that Olivia is an excellent shot. I get that they are trying to distinguish between the two Olivia’s but we know that Olivia is an excellent shot. I suppose Red Olivia is much better, a marksman as we’re told, but what we saw in this episode didn’t really strike me as outside Olivia’s range of ability.

• Olivia knows that William had an office at the world trade centre so why wouldn’t she try there? Was she at that point already forgetting herself?
