NCIS 8x02 and The Greatest Review

I really enjoyed it. The acting was good and it was a really nice, if sad, movie. It made me cry.
I want some AU fic now where Bennett hadn’t died and he and Rose had gotten to know each other. There are so many ways tragedy could have been avoided. I’m rather surprised but I was completely sold on the Bennett/Rose romance. They barely knew each other and we barely get to know them but I was sold. I found myself wanting so much for them to get a happy ending even knowing that it was going to end in tragedy from the start. The movie ending on the first time they spoke to each other was kind of a kick in the gut.
I liked Rose’s friendship with Allen, and Ryan’s storyline on trying to deal with his brother’s death. I found myself pretty interested in Bennett and wanting to see more about him. I looked up the actor who played him (Aaron Johnson) and discovered that he played Kick Ass. Huh. Never would have guessed it! I really wish we could have got a scene between Rose and Grace with them actually sitting down and talking about Bennett and what happened.
One thing that seemed weird was that just before the crash Rose took a picture of Bennett and I kept expecting that to come up again. For Rose to have kept that last picture of him and that at some point she’d give it to Grace (or Allen) but it never happened. That was a bit of a disappointment.
NCIS 8x02 ‘Worst Nightmare'
• I don’t actually have something against the idea of the show adding interns – it could be interesting – but the interns as characters didn’t really work for me. Can we get a new selection? It kind of seems as if they might be sticking around as reoccurring characters. Conrad at the least appears as if he might stick around but the idea leaves me very meh. Plus the fact that the interns were two white guys and a white girl made me sigh. This could have been a good opportunity to add more variety to the cast.
• I was annoyed when Conrad was allowed to watch the interrogation. I mean they’d seriously let an intern watch an interrogation where classified information might be revealed? Are you kidding me? That’s ridiculous. Man, they must sign some really tough non-disclosure agreements to intern at NCIS! Or, alternatively the writer of this episode wasn’t actually using his brain. Also possible.
• I was also really annoyed by Ziva’s general lack of screen time and Mason taking Ziva out with a kick when they finally cornered him. That should have been Tony because if anyone on the team could take on Mason and beat him it would be Ziva.
All that said I actually quite liked this episode and thought it was better than the premiere. Tony bugging McGee, Abby and her intern, the Tony/Gibbs interactions, Ziva’s constant amusement in the background and Tony/Ziva playing the peanut gallery in the episode were all excellent and I quite liked guest star Mason.
