Kyou Kara Maou - Episodes 88 - 91

+ Something I found very interesting was that during the pane over the students before Conrad and Günter’s fight it looks like there a number of female students among them. Now on this show that isn’t saying much – men often look like women. Still because of Gisele stating that she graduated from this same military academy I’m choosing to believe that at least some of those female looking students are in fact female (and I think I have canon to back me up) because it makes me happy.
+ It was really nice to see serious Günter and I liked Conrad as the bitter, rule-breaking teenager.
+ More Conrad love of Yuuri: “I will not die. I will live and protect Yuuri to the very end. That is why I wield my sword. So that I can live and protect what counts.”
3x11/Episode 89
You know, it suddenly occurs to me that Anissina is probably Greta’s main female influence. I think I might be a little scared. Plus the maids and Cheri... well, at least there’s Gisele, who’s pretty damn sensible. And I guess the others aren’t too bad either. Cheri certainly has a serious side.
+ For a moment I actually thought they were going to go canon with Gwendel and Anissina getting together and I didn’t really know what I thought about that but I do know that I love that it wasn’t at all what it looked like – that he realised what she was really up to and wanted to stop her and I loved their duel confrontation. That said this episode certainly added to the Gwendal/Anissina subtext and no one seemed to be buying Gwendal’s “I was only worried she would do something reckless.”
3x12/Episode 90 and 3x13/Episode 91
+ These two episodes really showed Wolfram’s growth – there are multiple times of Yuuri having a moment with someone else and while Wolfram growls to himself he never actually does anything (unlike even last season, though certainly I wouldn’t be surprised to see steam coming off him). The first time during Yuuri and Flurin’s greeting Conrad gives a warning ‘Wolfram’ but Wolfram is firmly under control and he tells Conrad ‘I know!’ and I believe him. He’s really settling in his place as Yuuri’s protector and supporter and has apparently realised that there isn’t really room for him to go into jealous rages anymore. I really love this character growth. That said I wouldn’t mind the occasional jealous fit. Wolfram certainly had a lot of provocation in these episodes with both the Yuuri/Flurin and the Yuuri/Saralegui love fests and it wouldn’t be – bad to have one or two blow-ups.
+ I love how everyone in Caloria loves Yuuri so much.
+ T-Zou suddenly reacting with anger and aggression to seeing dumplings instead of fear like all previous episodes felt contrived if amusing.
+ I loved the Yuuri/Saralegui interactions and want to see more. Yuuri is becoming such a Sara fangirl (I really am surprised Wolfram hasn’t burst something).
+ I love Yozak teasing Wolfram about Yuuri and Flurin.
[Yuuri and Flurin talk, deciding to do their best together. Wolfram watches with a glare.]
“Your Excellency, I really don’t think they’re falling in love.” – Yozak, smiling
“Shut up!” – Wolfram
+ “He’s a mysterious person, isn’t he? To his majesty, there’s no difference between humans and Mazoku. When I’m with him, I feel as though I can think the same way.” – Flurin
