3x36/Episode 114

+ I’m kind of confused about the fact that Janus didn’t apparently die. What was that all about then? Did it seem so violent because Janus fought back and escaped? Murata’s connection moment with Janus turns out, via his words – “An old memory. A very sentimental one.” My inner Shinou/Daikenjya shipper is pleased.

+ I liked Yuuri’s decree not to hurt Alazon ‘because she’s Saralegui’s mother’ because it’s the Sara part that’s really important, not that she’s a foreign queen. Wolfram, Conrad, Gwendal, Shori and Günter’s reactions to Yuuri stating that he would always chose to help Alazon made me giggle. They know their king.

+ I liked the Sara/Yuuri interactions. I love Sara’s continuing possessiveness of Yuuri with his statement “I will not let you have Yuuri.”, which even after everything that happened with Alazon, still feels more about Yuuri than about Sara’s issues with his mother.

+ “No, Sara. Your power of suggestion won’t work on me. I am not going to lose control over my own will.” – Yuuri, calmly. I feel like adding the word ‘again’ after every sentence there. First, is Sara’s power only that of suggestion? I thought he actually controlled what people did. Like an eye based mind control. Second, I find it interesting that Yuuri can resist Sara’s power now, and so easily and calmly too. Is it because Sara already used it on him once before and he’s now immune to it?

+ Oh boy, what issues Sara has with his mother! Completely with reason of course, and his snapping at Yuuri about having a loving mother and thus having no idea how Sara feels, made me want to hug him. Alazon certainly seemed really cold but I think it’s more probable that she’s trying to protect Sara then that she truly doesn’t care about him.

+ I seriously love the power of the divine sword. It controls plants and causes things to grown. I think it likes Sara much more than Shori considering that it caused flowers to grow and fruits to appear this time. This also made me realise just why the divine sword is necessary for the survival of Alazon’s country. I was getting Sleeping Beauty flashbacks with the detailed panning over the vine covered castle.

+ Before Sara grabs the sword he says “Yuuri is...” but never finishes it. How was he going to finish that sentence? Yuuri is... mine?

+ I found it interesting that during the throne room scene Wolfram calls Yuuri ‘your majesty’ when he usually calls him Yuuri.

3x38/Episode 116

I did not like the direction this story went in.

+ I just find it too hard to believe that Janus was stronger than Soushu. Shinou deciding to disappear with Janus made me roll my eyes. He seems to really want to be a martyr as this is the second time he’s done this. If the plan all along was for Shinou to reach out to Janus and then for them to disappear, what was all that at the temple a couple episodes back?

+ Seeing Murata actually using his power like that was neat.

+ “What achievements thou hath made in the past matters little, for Shin Makoku’s crown hath now been bestowed upon me. As such it is my duty to protect this country. Do not stick thy head in matters where it dost not belong!” – Maou Yuuri. Hahaha. And I love everyone’s reactions to Yuuri ordering Shinou and Janus to make up.

+ I was kind of getting a Shinou/Yuuri vibe in this episode.

+ I am curious about why Yuuri was sent in to confront Janus – Shinou would have made more sense to me or at least for both of them to go in.

+ So the little light balls/snowflakes that fell afterwards – how far did they fall? Throughout the entire kingdom? They appeared to heal people – did they heal everyone and animals too? Did they heal diseases? We don’t get to see Yuuri as a healer but it’s definitely something he has in him.

+ How exactly does it work that Janus has a soul? Even buying that, I’m fine with it, that soul then joining Murata’s soul definitely left me going – bwa?! They’re two different souls! Just because Janus had the memories of one of Murata’s past lives this doesn’t mean there’s a connection between Murata, and that past life’s, soul and the Janus constructs ‘new’ soul. It was just completely stupid and does not work for me.
